Tsop Flashing Is So Simple
« on: January 14, 2004, 08:17:00 AM »

well i sit down expecting to take a couple hours to do this task mainly to avoid ending up with a paper weight, but i think i was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I decided to go with the rear window defogger repair kit instead of solder to make me feel a bit better about doing it and its as simple as dabbing it inbetween the trace and your done.  so got the M7 bios  + my 120GB hd installed in my box.

i thank everyone who has made all these tutorials without them id be stuck congrats to all.

Which tutorial/method did you use?  Did you already have a hacked xbox, or did you do it without access to one?

Thanks,
Mike

welcome to the wonderful world of TSOP flashing, good to hear everything went well for you

@mikesm: in case you interested, when i first flashed my TSOP i used the newbie guide to 007:auf flashing, pinned in this forum, except i didnt have access to a modded xbox so i used a mega-x-key to copy to the save to my xbox

its a kit for repairing the rear window defogger in a car (the black lines on the window)

if you use that just apply a little between the points with a toothpick

i didnt realy follow any tutorial totaly. i kinda read them all and took the info i wanted/needed from them.  i had a totaly unmodified v1.4/1.5 xbox and just did it. connected two sets of traces. and then used the 007 raincoat hack and flashed my bios with the M7 bios. it worked flawlessly.

and yea the rear defogger repair kit is just another possibility if you dont want to solder. just use a toothpick and put some of the stuff inbetween the traces and have at it.  it was mentioned in the xbox-linux tsop tutorial if your intrested in more info.

its a liquid. you just dab a toothpick in it and then use the toothpick to connect the traces.

Neat.  I don't have have one of them or an action replay.  If I hack up a xbox to USB adaptor, can I use just a normal flash usb key, or is there special software required?

Thanks,
Mike

a normal usb flash will work, provided the xbox can read it, it needs to be a certain byte size in order for the xbox to see it as a mem card, but if it works it works
