Tsop Prof. Question

QUOTE (masterunix @ Jan 12 2004, 08:48 AM)
Well you saying its pricy to buy that to flash your TSOP without soldering and without using an modchip ... you better pay more for that because its no soldering and modchip and you can flash infinity even when its bad flashed! Why would you buy some cheap ass modchips and take the risk to let your mobo die? I dont see any funny in this thread its some serious stuff. Flashing an XBOX TSOP onboard BIOS witout soldering and modchip and connecting points is the best thing there is ...for EVERYONE! People that dont know how to do it they laugh at this methode maybe thats why this is so funny for you guys. I think those people never heard of Linux and an printer port. (even that it can be done in windows tho)

A modchip won't ruin your xbox unless you're a complete idiot. An eeprom programmer is not the best thing for everyone as some people only have 256k flashed and want to play on LIVE, making a modchip their only solution. That's not relevant here though. The reason it's funny is because you have no idea what you're talking about and neither do most other people in this thread. Paying 50 dollars to have your tsop flashed is the same as paying 50 dollars for an eeprom programmer if you know how to program your tsop. Otherwise you just wasted your money. I can tell just by the things you say and how against soldering you are that you wouldn't have the first clue what to do with an eeprom programmer so probably your best bet would be to have someone flash your tsop and then disconnect the write enable points so you can't dick it up again. That's exactly what the guy did that modded your xbox. He just used his programmer but he didn't bridge the points so that you can't upgrade in the future and dick your stuff up.

Someone also stated that you'd have to take the tsop off the mobo to program it. In most cases yes. The milksop thing just clips over it though and so far is the only completely no-solder tsop flash. The only problem is no one sells them and you have to make your own. This means that you read from the schematic in the link in the previous post I made and SOLDER it all together. Looks like masterunix is shit out of luck.  laugh.gif

The clip I used was a simple paper clip.
And yes, as someone said, you don't need to plug a EEPROM programer, you may bridge the Flash points then use your PC or Evox as a programer to flash the Bios.
If your idea is modify the Bios EEPROM, this TSOP flash is the way.

i thinky ou gotta bve pretty dumbto screw up those two solder points for a TSOP flash, i never soldered anything in my life before i did my xbox, it was easy

and further more, if you buya  50 dollar eeprom programmer you have to remove the chip from the motherboard, thats a hell of alot MORE soldering with much more to screw up and kill your xbox with

if you build a milksop programmer then again, you have a ton of complicated soldering to do, and if you screw something up you could very well short something out and fry your motherboard as soon as you put it on

so my conculsion external eeprom programmers are by no means an easy alternative to 10 seconds and 2 drops of solder, especially not for the "idiot" crowd

I wasn't really trying to flame anyone... but I don't take anything I said back... I mean I did use some people's names and all that but what I said was accurate... anyways it will definitely be a challenge for you to make the milksop programmer. Good luck. Also btw, no one believes that you soldered something successfully but now your goal is to bridge the two points without soldering. That's not a challenge at all.
