Mechinstaller Problems
« on: November 24, 2003, 09:46:00 PM »

Ok, trouble again.

I've got Mech Assault and Mech Installer 1.0 (and various other versions grabbed from the usual places), and have copied the files to the Xbox HDD in the  /E/UDATA/4d530017/ folder.

I've got the following folders/files:
/E/UDATA/4d530017/03F0EFB83E4C/
SaveImage.xbx
engine.bin
MASave.sav
SaveMeta.xbx

/E/UDATA/4d530017/48D918775FFB/
SaveImage.xbx
MASave.sav
SaveMeta.xbx

/E/UDATA/4d530017/E8FF68C9193B/
SaveImage.xbx
ernie.xtf
engine.bin
MASave.sav
default.xbe
bert.xtf
linuxboot.cfg
initrd
vmlinuz
SaveMeta.xbx

/E/UDATA/4d530017/62D648EBF155/
bios.bin
raincoat.conf
raincoat

When I start Mech Assault and go to the Campaign menu, I get "Install Linux", "Restore Dashboard" and "Emergency Linux". I then select "Emergency Linux", as all I need is to flash the TSOP, I don't want to install Linux, but the screen only goes black and the power LED is still green. I can't telnet to the Xbox on 192.168.0.3 either (I tried both 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.0.0 as subnet masks on my PC).

Anyone got any ideas why it won't run linux? It's a V1.2 Xbox with a Winbond TSOP.

Forgot to mention that the TSOP is flashed with Evox aldready, and I use a non-original Mech Assault (as the xbox is modded). Tried copying in a old, V1.1 Dashboard (without the Live menu item), but still no good.

Going to try using 007 AUF instead, but that'll have to be later tonight.

I give up!

Tried almost a 1000 ways to do this, and no matter what savegame I use, all that happens is that the screen turns black and the power LED stays green (well, if I choose "Install Linux" from mechinstaller it actually flashes red..).

Tried MechInstaller 1.0, Eurasia Flash Disc, 007 Save with Raincoat, you name it, I've tried it. All with the same damn result!

Read somewhere that it might not work if you had the GT2002/JSRF package, and ofcourse that's the dash that's installed on the box, and damned if I can dig out an older one...

Anyone that can offer some help here?
