4977 Bad Tsop Flash On 1.4/1.5
« on: November 02, 2003, 03:29:00 PM »

i flashed a v.1.4/1.5 tsop using the 2 solder points on the top of the board and one on the bottom.. i used the 007auf exploit to flash the tsop. but the tsop would not flash.. so i loaded up the 007raincoat to flash the bios.. i telnet into the xbox like i usually do and flash the bios with the 4977, flash verified.then i reboot. To my suprise i get flashing greenlights and it shuts off.  So right now i know i have a either Bad flash or some major problems.  Apon trouble shooting i realize that the 4977 bios is not compatible with the 1.4/1.5 xbox's.  Then i thought about fixing a bad flash like i would do on a older version xbox with a matrix.  no luck (old chips dont support lframe). So my question is this, How can i possibly fix this bad flash. I hav thought of getting a newer modchip, flashing it with m7.. solder it into place..boot the xbox via chip. and since the bios is cached then disable the modchip load 007 and run the 007raincoat that is still on the factory hd in the xbox and telnet in and reflash to m7.. anyone else have this problem or know a solution to my disasster.. i have been up for 2 days messing with this thing and 1 thing i dont need is another big ole' paperweight in my house.. PLEASE HELP!!

youll never get the retail game to boot without the retail BIOS (or hacked BIOS on a modchip)

That xbox will never work again without a modchip, HOWEVER, you can put the RETAIL BIOS on one of the banks of a multi-bank modchip. Then it can STILL use LiVE, or whatever.

But I dont believe there is a way to *fix* this TSOP, w/ some MASSiVE hardware.

The problem you have is: you used the wrong bios. (4977 is for 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 only)

In the 1.4 and 1.5 versions you can only use the evox M7 bios.

So what you have to do is: Use one of the latest LPC mods with this bios and your problem is solved.

Best regards,

Leon.

I've done many TSOP recoveries, some on v1.3 systems (which are the same wiring scheme).

You will need to get a 29/31 wire homebrew chip which is flashed with the EvoX M7 BIOS (no other BIOS will work for this application).  You can then wire the homebrew chip to the motherboard, boot, disconnect the power wires to the chip, then reflash the TSOP.

http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips/ownmod_...d_diagrams.html - Wiring diagram
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop.php - TSOP flashing instructions for the homebrew chip

Good luck,

you can also use the tsop_d6.bin method.  you use an LPC modchip to flash the tsop.  it only works if you have some code in your tsop.  you do.

read the tuts on flashing the tsop with a matrix or X2

use tsop_d6.bin instead.  it comes with the evolutionx 3921 distro.

i think it might not work.. u tell me if u agree.. #1 the matrix doesnt work an any xbox after 1.2 if im correct because of changes to the Lframe. #2 the only bios that works on the 1.4/1.5 is M7.. now if thats the case how would any bios other then the M7 on any chip be able to work?.. if i am wrong please tell me so because i have a matrix right here and didnt try to do exactly that because i thought it would not work.

Only the EvoX M7 BIOS works, that TSOP BIOS is not an option in this case

get a LPC modchip with the right bios on it (M7 if you have 1.4/1.5) and you are all set....however if you want to recover your tsop...you might want to use a 29 wire modchip that has the full image on it....LPC modchip might not help you in this case since you flash the wrong bios on the TSOP.

I believe your best answer was posted up early.  Your going to need a 29wire hombrew mod to get this going again.  Sucks but, as of now.  It's the only thing available and you've already wasted the time that this could have been done with.  That's half the battle.  If there is an easy way right now, it's probably a kept secret.
