Xbox Turned Off During Tsop Flashing
« on: October 04, 2003, 10:53:00 AM »

I bought a xbox from someone who said that the xbox turned off during tsop writing. The tsop was errased and when the xbox began to write the bios to the tsop the xbox fell out.

So.. there could be like 3% of bios on the tsop.. so it should not start. But the xbox does boot up... after that the led is blinking red/green.

I have installed the matrix but also now the xbox does boot up.. but there's no video/audio en de led is blinking red

What can this be?? I think the problem is more then a blank tsop.

blink red/green means xbox can't see the bios....
matrix will not work on V1.2 above so make sure the version of ur ps2..and make sure ur d0 is good

it's a V1.0.

That's the strange part of this.. if there's no bank that contains a good bios ( in this case not one bank is filled with a complete bios) the xbox should not boot up. But it does boot up (no sound and no video)... so what could have happened here...

you say it boots up but how can it if it doesn't display anything? that's just not possible. if the green light stays on but you don't see anything i would suggest to check the eeprom

i know scan-c.. it sounds realy strange.. but this guy keeps telling me that the tsop writing stopped immediately. I checked the tsop writing enable points and they were done correct so the tsop is probably erased.

And the green light doesn't stays on... it just flashes red/green

ok.. newsflash. The tsop has been filled for about 25-35 % so there is 1 bank with probebly a correct bios. That's the reason the xbox did boot up.

AND.. the led is not blinking red/green but is only blinking RED (sorry about that)

He wanted to flash the bios with the " audio exploit"  method with a program called eepromer

Hhmz.. that sounds ugly to me.... maybe some helpfull info for you guys

Nope.  To load the Phoenix BIOS loader, the Xbox will have to boot up.  On its existing BIOS.  Which it won't.

There's a scary article in the tutorials about swapping EEPROMs, you may want to check it out.  Easier to put a debug BIOS on your Matrix though.

so i got myself a X2 pro chip and flashed it with a debug bios but still no success. Strange thing is when i flash the chip with X2-4977 the xbox does boot and the led stays steady green. After a couple of seconds the xbox reboots ??

I also have problems with flashing the x2 pro chip. The first time i flashed the chip it flashed all 4 banks but now it wont flash the 1st bank anymore. When i flash the chip in dos it wil verify the 2nd, 3th and 4th bank but it gives me an error on verifying the 1st bank --> error at location 00000h!. Also flashing with x-cuter 2 bios manager won't work on the 1st bank.

1. is there a particular debug bios that i have to use.. one that will boot the xbox that has a f***cked up eeprom

2. how can i get the 1st bank to flash  (remember... the xbox does boot but i don't get audio/video, so i can't flash with a program like flashX)

Hope anyone can help me out  :(
