DaShiZNiT:
I assume by the reply you got the box working again. Let us know for sure please mate biggrin.gif

StrongBad19:
Unfortunately there is no workable non solder method for this.
All I can suggest is pop down to your local PC Store and ask them if they have a scrap circuit board (It doesn't matter what it is) and spend a few hours practising you soldering. Practise make perfect.

Smokey:
Actually I think we both have been on the same threads where this has happened to people, it just depends which one of us got in with the method first. wink.gif lol
Kudos to you mate.

Any way to do it without soldering? or could someone point me to a detailed tut on HOW to solder. Thanks.

if you really are scared of solder iron. why not get a none solder solution? like widow defogger or that pin that makes liquid contact? if you dip to much you can easly remove it with rubbing alcohol.

lol paper clips...

And yes PsiDOC, I did get it working. but this one was a ST tsop, and when I tried to reflash it in evo-x, it erased then got stuck at what looked like 1/4 of it. I was shocked! cuz I figured I just hosed the 256k that I had, but sure enough when I rebooted it was jacked!

but then I resoldered the wires and all is well. just still only 256k.
This was one of my friends xbox's, he was over here working on it. And hes just happy that it works now, so we left it at 256k. I may try again later down the road, but hell, it was worth it wink.gif

thnx again

Hmmm
I have had no problems flashing (and recovering) ST's in the past Das. What version of EVOX are you using? I remember the 1.8.3685 had a bug in the flashing process, but the others are fine.
I personally use the good old slayers 2.0 disk with 1.8.3258 EvoX and it's not failed me yet on the 1.0 / 1.1 recovery.

okay i flashed my apple x3 with the x2 bios 4978 and now it frags.  Do u think this method would work to fix it?

dude, we're talking about TSOP's here, not modchips.  I saw this in another thread as well.  your best bet for getting help straightening out your apple chip would be to post in this forum.

oh, and PsiDOC, excellent tutorial.  I agree it should be pinned, this seems to eat up a large chunk of the forum, people having done something like this. beerchug.gif

GS8,
So long as the soldering is good on your wires AND the Bios file you used was not corrupted in the 1st place then this tutorial will work. What I suggest you do is check the bios file you used for and anomilies, then re-check your soldering.

Had the same problem with my Xbox but I have an Xbox 1.3

I flashed my X-Ecuter Lite 2.2 Plus ( solderless) with a Linux 2.24a CROMWELL ( 1 meg ) and then later flashed it with XEcuter 4977 (256 K )
Now all I get is a green / red blink when I turn my mod on.
It works fine with the mod off

Does this method of grounding the A18 and A19 work with 1.3 also ?
If not, what do I try ?

Please help.

what if... you had the 4-way tsop splitter and then flashed your box and it fragged? say you flashed any of the banks other than 1? would this still work?

i know it was dumb of me, but i was having fun playing around with my xbox. hehe

If the bios is totally empty, then I am afraid it's a modchip for life support, then try to flash using the EvoX D6 Tsop bios wink.gif

sajain84
Your problem is on the ExEcuter 2.2, that's a different section to this. This is for the TSOP (Onboard flash rom) only. Sorry.

DJLotus
If you have a 4 way split on the tsop already then you should still be able to boot from the other 3, this is what we are doing here in effect. The Bios is programmed from the bottom up, so if a 256K bios is programmed then only the 1st sector is programmed, so what we have to do is boot from sector 1.....
If you Do have the 4 way splitter installed, you should be able***in theory*** to get away with a 256K bios program anyway, however I do not recommend trying it.

Holy Shit! Nice tutorial. And here I was just going to buy a MATrix chip just to prepare in case I had a bad TSOP. But with this tutorial I can save my 25 bux and fix any TSOP w/o a MOD CHIP. KUdos to you PSI!

QUOTE (schrash @ Oct 27 2003, 04:02 AM)
hi, i´m glad to hear that i can perhaps recover my 1.1 xbox which has a bad tsop. i accidently flashed the bios "tsop d6.bin" which was in the bios folder of the evolutionX 3921 release. everything went well until the xbox rebooted and i knew it was dead as the screen kept black so i installed an lpc. the box is up again, but a fixed tsop would be great so i can use xbox live..i only want to know if the xbox will start with this bios i mentioned above, if not i don´t need to try the procedure because the xbox won´t boot, right?

I'm afraid that your problem may be a little more complicated that that..
If you have flashed the TSOP D6.bin  bios to the TSOP what you have actually done is flashed an incorrect bios.
The TSOP D6 is designed to be programmed to a LPC modchip to assist in reflashing the TSOP after a bad flash (Previously using a LPC to do this was limited to Ver. 1.0 boxes only). This is a special "maintenance only bios"
If the flash went correctly then only the TSOP D6 is in your TSOP, and I am sorry to say,  unfortunately this tutorial will not help you.
