Noob Question Bout What A Tsop Flash Does

Exactly.

Also, on some version of Xboxes, you can split the tsop and install switches to toggle between them.
I think on v1.0 Xboxes you can even split the tsop 4 ways.

there is a way to get a 1.1 tsop to split 4 ways too, but yes a TSOP flash will work exactly like a modchip for v1.0 and 1.1 and like amodchip you cant turn off for v1.2 and 1.3
