PS -  thats the built in FTP server in the BIOS, speeds are sucky as hell, You can get the FTP screen by holding the A button as the flubber animation starts up

I plan on only using the kernel FTP server for emergency recovery purposes only; for now I'll stick with MXM's built-in daemon.  However, I'm still giddy over the fact that it has been done.

So, my question is for us with a 1.0 box with a Hynix-HY29F080 TSOP, can it be flashed to the new 4978 1 Mb BIOS?

One of my boxes is a 1.0 and it flashed fine, I flashed using Evox's "Id.flash.bios" option

1.2's and 1.3's i think have 1MB bios's in them, it dont hurt to try, I have heard so far that if your flash is at least 40% complete and fails, the flubber ani will start on reset and you can hold A to go into FTP mode, raincoat the bios again then restart. Im not gonna try this but to anyone who has...just say TRA...TRA...TRA...TRA...TRA!...Its addicting like cocaine! (Im not a junkie, its a figure of speech)

Totally INCORRECT!!!
1.2's and 1.3's have 256K Bioses 1.0's and 1.1's have the 1 Meg.

like i said I thought...but thanks for the correction, I guess the 1.2's and 1.3s have to wait for a workaround. its still hard to believe that it takes 3/4 of the bios to include an FTP feature....kind of an overkill if you think...regardless its a great feature. Im still waiting for someone with a bios fragged box to validate the FTP portion still being active. If this holds true there will be no such thing as fried bioses due to tsop. Im not gonna keep my hopes up jester.gif

Do you have to change the ip?  I heard that it wasn't necessary to change the ip of the ftp.

As has been discussed in the pinned thread in the Xbox BIOS forum, the FTP server code is a bit over 256K.  Given that the 4977 code is 256 by itself, the size of the BIOS gets pushed past 512K, which causes it to overflow to 1024K.
