Tsop Flashing On v1.2-1.5

Tsharkou, sounds like the August model could of been a 1.3 while the Septemeber one was a 1.4. All in all the 1.4 one is dead. The 1.4 contains the focus video encoder which needs either the Evox M7 or X2 4979.06 to work. The 1.3 has a conexant video encoder and this is why the older X2 4977 worked fine. Definitely check the guide for confirmation of this.

The safest bet is to use ONLY THE LATEST BIOS! In other words, keep M7 and/or 4979, delete the rest, otherwise sooner or later you're going to flash a 1.4/1.5 machine with D6 or an early X2 BIOS, and you're screwed.

Hey guys I need some help!! I'm trying to flash a 1.3
when I type ./raincoat -p 256bios.bin it shows:
DETECTED: Hynix - HY29F002 (256K)
Programming with 256bios.bin...unable to open file
The file I'm using is 007AUF_RAIN0501_M7_256
any suggestions!!!
You need to specify the name of the BIOS file as a parameter when you run the file with
./raincoat -p
make sure that the BIOS file exists. Try
ls
to get a directory listing.
If your BIOS file is called BIOSNAME.BIN then use ./raincoat -p BIOSNAME.BIN to flash it.

Was referring to the points identified in the photo found in the flashing tutorial (don't know the reference). It's on this site I believe.

w00t I just succesfully flashed a 1.5 with a winbond w49f020t using raincoat .51 and only the two point on the top of the board. I cut 2 very smaller pieces of the lead off a resistor I had sitting around and used them as tiny jumpers between the pads since I have read sooo many reports of people soldering this connection multiple times to get a goot joint. Worked first try! Thanks to everybody on this forum who helped develop these hacks!

Version 1.3 with Winbond, soldered top two points only, tried to flash with 007 with evox installer - hung at erasing flash 0% twice, flashed sucessfully first time with 007 with raincoat after adding 0.501 raincoat (did not try with older version).

Hi everyone,
FYI I successfully TSOP flashed a v1.3 Xbox with Winbond W49F020T-90B chip on it using raincoat 0.501 + X2 4979 bios without needing to bridge the bottom points and also without using this line in raincoat.conf :
Flash = 0x0900,"Winbond W49F020T",0x40000
Chip has been recognized as Winbond - W49F020.
Thx to the Xbox community.

Flashed a 1.2 or 1.3 version using raincoat007 (had to replace two files whit the .501, raincoat and raincoat.conf for it to flash) and only solder the tow top points. Had a Hynix - HY29F002 flashed with M7. MFD of xbox 6/29/03.

Is raincoat .501 the current one on #xbins? I'm having trouble flashing my 1.4, and am curious if that is the problem.
