Tsop Flashing On v1.2-1.5
« Reply #90 on: November 02, 2003, 04:37:00 PM »

I've got a 1.3 Xbox with a Winbond chip.  I used the latest raincoat from xbox-linux (uh, 0.5+ or something I think) and I only connected the two points on TOP of the system board.  Worked perfectly with a 256k x2 4977.

Tsop Flashing On v1.2-1.5

Guys
I understand that perhaps my question was asked somewhere else but still -
does anyone know - is it possible to flash tsop (winbond) with evox. I saw that a lot of people did it with raincoat, but as I understood it require original game 007, which I dont have. I hate the idea to go and buy that game only for 1 time use. or am I wrong and there is no need for iriginal 007 game?
i have 1.4 (i guess), soldered homebrew 29 mod to it with evD6. It is loading ok. but cant flash tsop. I think it should be possible. if anyone did that - please tell that magic spell.
or if there is a way to flash tsop without original game - tell that instead.
thanks in advance

to flash with homebrew u need to boot with homebrew then u need to remove the wires... i believe u can just cut the power and gnd and shit... ONE BY ONE AT THAT

uhm then u flash
homebrew is basically just another TSOP..

now as for whoever wanted the mech assault with raincoat?

i made a save in the past....  but dont have it anymore (on an xbox somewhere)

i have however made a save recently to get ready for a bunch of xbox's im going to do but i havent had the luck to test it yet

just a fair warning though.. when u use mechassault saves with raincoat from my experience if u send it to the xbox hdd.. load the save.. even if u dont play somehwo the game changes it.. cause once u load the save again raincoat doesnt bootup

so everytime u load the save u gotta send it to the xbox hdd again.. can get to be a bitch when trying to flash the tsop

Tsop Flashing On v1.2-1.5

I've moded nine V1.0 boxes using an enigmah and flashing the TSOP with Evox (29 wires down, flash, 29 wires off).  Then I did a three using of V1.0's using a cheapmod with the hacked matrix bios (to flash the tsop).  Finally, I did another two V1.0 using the AUF 007 hack with a slightly modified minilinux.  So, that was 14 boxes and not once did I see anything but V1.0's; until last night.

Yesterday I had two friends ask me if I would flash their boxes.  They were both the xmas bundles with MechAssault Live.  Surprise, surprise, I open them up and they are V1.2/1.3's.  I though I was toast, but reading this forum and following the diagram A.Z.BEST® posted, I was able to flash them without issue.  Of course, I had to add the new raincoat stuff to my 007 AUF image, but all worked well.

I am one of the many fortunate benefactors of the genius and hard work of others.  I have no idea how the new flash points were found on these new boards.  Moreover, I haven't the slightest clue what was changed in raincoat to make it work with the V1.2+ boxes. Luckily for me, there are people who have the skills required to figure these things out and the willingness to share their findings with the rest of us.  Thank you.  This is awesome.

My v1.4 /1.5 reports error 21 when I run Mechassault gamsave +Evox , is there another way of flashing this with still the Mechassault  game disc. (MechAssault is the older type disc)

Is it possible to flash the xbox using the old type 007 AUF method?

Can I do this the same way as AUF007 using MA (telnet over rather then Evox)?

Thanks

Okee, since i don't have a memcard or 007 dvd, i ripped the executables from the 007 hack and signed them with the font exploit. It ran and flashed smile.gif Perfect, the best way to flash without 007 dvd.

Hello,

I have a request for all those who flashed their TSOP on a v1.2/v1.3 xbox.
There seems to be alot of questions about it.

Please tell me what brand your TSOP chip was and which points you soldered.

Thanks.

I believe my XBox is a V1.3, definately a Winbond TSOP chip.  I tried the common advice of only having to solder the topside two points.  It never worked.  I tried to re-solder about 5 times, all according to spec, tested with a multimeter, never worked.  I always got the unrecognized device 0X0900 error when using raincoat to flash.  Finally I took the motherboard out and soldered the two points on the bottom along with the top two.  Boom, works the first time.  Used the Mech Assault FatX images, ozxmemory util to burn the images to a 128 meg thumb drive, homemade USB cable to attach the XBox and thumb drive, transferred savegame to XBox hard drive, used exploit to boot into linux, ftp new bios and raincoat to XBox, run raincoat to back up the original bios, do it again to flash new bios, done.  Just solder both sets of points if you get the 0X0900 error.

smile.gif thank god the box was ok.  I turned off the power poped out the board. checked my soldering 2 ON TOP looked at the 3rd on and soldered it DOES NOTHING IN EVOX. i un soldered it and tried only the 2 top. SAME thing happends EVOX does not work. Ok I then ran and got a raincoat and did the old method with a M7 256 bios.bin and i logon in at root and ran to flash the baster. I typed in the command and BAM not even 1 min. it flashed........

so i'm posting that a Winbond W49F020 in evox does not work.
RAINCOAT WORKED 100%

V1.4, 8-21-03, Samsung DVD, Focus, Winbond T-90. Successfully flashed 4979.06 with 007 Raincoat from usual places. Top 2 points only. Changed only the Bios.bin file in 007 Raincoat.
