i have a 12mb flashpack with toutorial if anyone wants to distribute it around or try it out. So far i have flashed 6 st 1.3 xboxs using this meathod with 100% results.  Takes 15 min to do each once you have done a couple

email me [email protected]

put up or shut up, i bet it took you a while to make fun of my name... I could have gone with you and your name mr.littlejohn... guess i rather be a pot head then a small penis.

Edited: to make it simple... Post your findings or shut the fuck up about it. why even ask people to email you.

lol, thats cool no hard feelings i can see how i miss understood you. i did linux and you did evox. just that i was shocked that this made it front page and yet when everyone in the scene pulled togther to make it flash on a 1.3 no one posted shit about it. just email me what you have so i can futher examine into it. from what i have seen. and again im not sure of course but i think you took Flash = 0x20B0,"ST 29F002",0x40000 from the proir post and just added it into evox. but again if its differernt then that email me @ [email protected]

Haven't played with a 1.3 yet, but can't you just jump the write protect points, do the 007 trick and flash with Evox?  I understand that you need to have the correct "flash" entries in the Evox ini.

Just wondering since I haven't had a chance to work with a 1.3

Tried to flash new 1.3 chip using 1.2 solder points and am getting

# ./raincoat -p smallbios.bin
raincoat Flasher  0.5  Aug  5 2003  [email protected]  http://xbox-linux.sf.net
Reading /etc/raincoat.conf... (unable to open /etc/raincoat.conf, using default list)

DETECTED: Winbond - W49F020T (256K)
Programming with smallbios.bin...Read 262144 bytes from file
Erasing...
Trying to erase whole chip
 ERASE ERROR AT +0x0...read 0x09
 Done
Error: Erase failed for block at +0x0, reads as 0x09
  Could your chip be write-protected?
Completed

I'm positive the solder points are correct.  Could there be some new solder points in this version of 1.3  or could this even be 1.4?

Ill be calling this one a 1.4, I spent hours trying to work it out, chammelion boots fine, using the alt d0 point on the bottom of the m/board.  Bert and Ernie boots fine too, but to no avail on the tsop flash. I heavily suggest that the chip is write protected in some way.

if the chammelion boots fine then its a 1.3 still.

I just opened up a new xbox (definitely a version 1.3).  comes with a Seagate Model ST310014ACE.  mfg date 2003-05-31.
anyway using the very latest raincoat from cvs with all the known bios types yields the following

raincoat Flasher  0.5  Aug  5 2003  [email protected]  http://xbox-linux.sf.net
Reading /etc/raincoat.conf... 20 flash types read

UNKNOWN DEVICE Read Only??? manf=0x09, dev=0x00
Try adding the device ID to /etc/raincoat.conf

Looking at the bios chip says W49F020T-90B (Winbond?)
Anyway, I added the following line to raincoat config

Flash = 0x0900,"Winbond - W49F020T",0x40000

and was able to get a successful dump of the chip
Will it be okay to flash the smallbios to this chip using this config?

Is this the way new bios appear and people like me just report them and they become standard?

what solder points did you close? both top and bottom? cause i found that if you dont close the bottom you get that error

i checked the soldering with a multimeter, forget the soldering its not it, i even rebridged just to be sure.

it seems to be write protected still....

ill try out a few more flash routines and the oo7 meathod
