Raincoat 0.501
« on: June 28, 2003, 07:11:00 AM »

Some people may have noticed, when using raincoat 0.5 via the 007:AUF Linux boot, that it doesn't recognise its own raincoat.conf file and uses an internal default config instead.

This is because it expects to find /etc/raincoat.conf, unfortunately /etc/ appears to be read-only so you can't copy it there.

I've modified (HexEdited to be precise) the raincoat 0.5 executable so that it looks for ./raincoat.conf instead.  If you cd to raincoat's directory (/media/E/UDATA/4541000d/000000000000/raincoat) and run ./raincoat, it'll successfully read its raincoat.conf file.

This means that if raincoat 0.5 doesn't support your Flash-BIOS, you can now add the required entry (up to a maximum of 32 entries) to raincoat.conf and you should be sorted.

Download raincoat-0.501.zip here, replace your existing raincoat and raincoat.conf files (the ones in your 007:AUF Linux save) with the ones in my ZIP file.

(I hope [email protected] doesn't mind me hex-hacking his files!  unsure.gif biggrin.gif)

Nothing wrong with raincoat 0.5, it's just that if you need to add an entry to raincoat.conf (which you will if you have to reflash an AMD 29LV800B, ST 29F002 or Hynix HY29F002) it'll have trouble reading the file.  All I've done is replaced all instances of /etc/raincoat.conf with .////raincoat.conf (the extra slashes pad it out to the same length without affecting the read operation).  It's fixed properly in the source-code (./raincoat.conf), it's just that I don't have the means to recompile it.

I've updated the .zip file this morning, it's now got the extra entries for the chips mentioned above.

hello Exobex
In your new updated raincoat.conf i noticed you put the fallowing Flash data entries.
Flash = 0x01d5,"AMD - Am29F080B",0x100000
Flash = 0x015a,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000              <<<< Here on this line i think there's a mistake.
Flash = 0x015b,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000
Flash = 0x04d5,"FUJITSU - MBM29F080A",0x100000
Flash = 0xadb0,"Hynix - HY29F002",0x40000
Flash = 0xadd5,"Hynix - HY29F080",0x100000
Flash = 0xbf61,"SST - SST49LF020",0x40000
Flash = 0x20b0,"ST - 29F002",0x40000
Flash = 0x20f1,"ST - M29F080A",0x100000
Flash = 0x89a6,"Sharp - LHF08CH1",0x100000
Flash = 0xda8c,"Winbond - W49F020",0x40000

Correct me if im wrong but isnt it supposed to be
Flash = 0x01da,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000

Thanks...

Fuckin' hell, it's nice to be appreciated! biggrin.gif

All I did was hex-edit the Raincoat executable, replacing "/etc/raincoat.conf" with ".////raincoat.conf", which is the same length but will (at least under 007-AUF Linux) access raincoat.conf properly.  I've also edited the C source code (properly) but not attempted to compile it.

raincoat.conf was copied from this forum (by hand, hence the typo in the first release!), so you can thank the guy who posted it (I can't find the post at the moment so I can't give his name).

just a quick note,

i had same problem, config not found, so i checked the lates raincoat CVS files, and the newer sources have been modified for a custom path to the config file,

and they can be comiled with any linux kernel, xbox linux not required, something i wasnt sure of,.

so if you keen grab and compile from http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs...linux/raincoat/

but thanks EXOBEX for the hack :) had i found this earlier i wouldnt have needed the CVS :D

cheers

Exobex
nice tutorial right now i'm tsoping a 1.3 vesion i soldered the 3 points  , so i downloaded ur 007 AUF 5.01 i replace the files in my raincoat folders with urs, i ftp my modded xbox and transfered All the files in my Udata to my xbox e:folder, then i copied the 007 auf save file to my memory card , then i copied the 007 auf dave file to the unmodded xbox, i put the 007 auf game i load the save game ---->>everythig went OKay so far,because before i got
"UNKNOWN DEVICE Read Only??? manf=0x09, dev=0x00
Try adding the device ID to /etc/raincoat.conf"

but this time, went ok,( ohh Exobex this is not my first time that i tsop , is my first time with a 1.3 versioneverything is okay UNTIL i power on my xbox , i get christmas light red and green. i'm like WHY the progress went 100% complete ,

Exobex now the xbox wont boot , just the christmas lights , what could it be , i guess is not a soldering problem since the tsop went ok.
