The TSOP is the xbox's onboard flash... it is not a modchip.

If you wish to split your TSOP into two parts, it will require soldering a couple points on the motherboard and some wires onto it as well for the switch.

If you're not into soldering, you should consider a pogo-pin based modchip (ie. matrix or X2).

Do some research on the pogos first.  You will see that everyone hates them.  If you flashed your tsop then your up the creek as far as live goes.  However if you are going the mod chip route, i would suggest a x2.1lite.  It has a seperate switch bank (I mounted mine behind the front panel so I can turn it off and on but you can not see it).  This will make it able to switch your xbox from fully modded to off the shelf.

he is not up the creek if he has a 1mb tsop,  he could flash half with the original and half with whatever then just flip a switch to boot either half.

QUOTE (Solid Snake @ Jun 25 2003, 05:52 PM)
if you want to split your tsop into two halfs...then you only need to solder two points the first being the ground...and the other being a19 as in a tutorial on xbox-scene...if you want it in 4 quarters then you need a second switch on a18.
i thought of making my tsop into two half one half with the M$ bios and the other with X2...i made a switch...but i cant get the the M$ half of my tsop to boot right  sad.gif
has anyone here ever done this?
a few people have told me that you can split the original bios into four 256k quarters... have those people done it themselves? because i allways thought it wasnt possible...and i even tried last night but it didnt work...

you have to solder a19,gnd and vcc.the switch will connect a19 to vcc or gnd and one half of the chip will boot.if you just use gnd and a19 then, with the switch on,the half of the chip will boot.switch off and the whole tsop is used and finds 2 bios's and the box gives you the frag.

i had my tsop multibios working allright when i didnt even have a wire soldered to VCC5,  i tried this anyway and i got the same results
my only problem is that i get error 13 when i boot my MS bios but i dont think thats anything to do with the multibios or switches...
and james_row, are you suggesting to move the wire thats on VCC5 to the 4th pin from the left of the bottom row?
when i tried connecting the GND wire to the point on the diagram, the wires burnt!! maybe i made a mistake, but my GND wire is on the yellow thing with a circle on it on the diagram.

I can figure out why i keep getting error 13  sad.gif
oh and i had forgotten that when i didnt connect the VCC5 wire then i the xbox would frag when i switched to the MS bios, but that would only be with X2 4976.02 (newer bioses because D6 acted the same), while the first release of X2 worked fine.
you guys were right ofcourse... smile.gif
but why do i get error 13!?!?

Use 3.3V instead of 5V. 5V may be too high for the MCPX to handle in the long run. From that picture, 3.3V is the 4th pin from the left of the bottom row.

Seriously, Can anyone confirm that the 4th pin is 3.3 v and that will work instead of the 5v, and in fact would be better to use than the 5v?  I'm getting ready to do this, and would love to know if I should use the 5v that everyone has talked about, or this 3.3v if that is what it really is.
