Using Labtool To Flash Tsop
« on: June 15, 2003, 08:51:00 PM »

newbie warning!  Please don't flame me.

OK, Unsoldering the TSOP, reading it on a Labtool 148c and saving the ROM image is not a problem for me.  The question is, does anyone have a bios they can provide me that would allow me to flash the bios on my labtool?  I unsolder and solder these fine pitch tsop chips EVERY DAY so soldering is no big deal to me.  I don't plan to use Live so that really isn't an issue for me.

I have one other question for anyone who might know about the labtool.  The onboard tsop is 40pin right?  I have a tsop 48pin adapter.  Does anyone know if I can use the 48pin adapter and just center the 40 pin chip on the adapter or shift it to one side or the other?  It would be cheaper to buy a mod chip than to buy a new adapter for the labtool.  Of course I might be able to build an adapter for dirt cheap.

I'm sure the developers of the mods have done it in this fashion before.  Heck someone even said one time that they put a 48pin tsop chip back on there in place of the 40in.  They just centered it or something like that.  I have plenty of 48pin tsop flash roms that would probably work and might just try flashing one of those (don't have to worry about adapter to flash it) and solder that in place if someone can confirm that you can just center the 48pin tsop and it will work.

Thanks for an help out there!
