Flash 1.1 Or Later Tsop?
« Reply #1 on: April 11, 2003, 02:46:00 AM »

so this means, If I have an unmodded 1.2 xbox, I will be able to use the 007 agent under fire linux + raincoat hack to flash the tsop so long as the bios I flash with is 256K ?? same with 1.1??
I thought I read somewhere that if you flash the 1.1 bios, it wont work.....

seems too good to be true to be able to flash the tsop on a 1.1. Did loads on the 1.0 but still had to solder those damn 29 wires!!

At least the 29 wire mods are now obsolete...

anyone?

well you're all right but I want to clarify something. The reason these statements were true about being able to flash 1.1s was because raincoat was mentioned beforehand. It is not possible to evox matrix tsop flash. If you want to flash your 1.1 you must use the cromell bios and boot linux and flash with raincoat.

1.0= 1 meg tsop
1.1= 1 meg tsop
1.2= 1/4 meg (256k) tsop

is soldering still necessary? ...  I'm getting conflicting reports on this with the Linux and 007  and raincoat ...
And if soldering is necessary ... are the points the same or different?

This is good news, thanks bfcsheezy!.
I flashed a few 1.0 boxs back when the extender chips came out. I felt like a god back in july 2002 when I flashed my st bios with xflash!.
I got a virgin 1.1 xbox waiting for my delivery of 007 from a guy on ebay, got linux hack and raincoat on a mem card and good memory of where the solder points are...
could be an opportunity to do a step by step picture tutorial...

Cant wait to try it,...

Yes soldering the points is necessary and they are still the same. They are the jumpers that write enable the tsop. They haven't and won't change with different procedures. The only way these jumpers will change is if M$ decided to change the layout of their board.

I have successfully flashed the TSOP of a 1.2 with the 007 raincoat method (Thanks to numbnut for rewriting raincoat (x2) to support the winbond chip while I was working on this!)

the layout of the board is different, I'm looking for a high quality pic of the backside so I can mark the points that need to be bridged.  If anyone has one please post it here or contact me.
Thanks
