ok so your xbox can fire up to avalaunch?
well then you'll probably just want to take a look at the settings in avalaunch and set them according to your setup (automatic/manual)
not quite sure where your problem is atm...

from the sound of it you are trying to FTP through a router/switch.

try connecting directly via crossover cable and using static IP addresses. what FTP program are you using?

STEP 1: Connect the system link (crossover) cable between the PC and XBOX.

STEP 2: On the PC, enter the following settings in the appropriate places:
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: <leave blank>
DNS: <leave blank>
You may have to restart your computer for the new settings to take effect.

STEP 3: On the XBOX, Go to your Xenium OS menu. Go to Settings, then
Network Settings, and change the settings as follows:
Using Static IP
IP: 192.168.0.3
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 0.0.0.0
DNS: 0.0.0.0

After the settings are changed, highlight Restart Network and press A.

try these settings that are straight from the IceGuide.

Unfortunately not able to post images onto this board, but here is the List of contents three levels deep in the Xenium OS 1.1 Menu system:

And that's about it! No Network Settings that i can find, unfortunately...

As stated clearly and very reasonably in my first post, pal:

What I want to avoid is having to mess with the actual dashes themselves (ie. overwriting or trying to upgrade them) or any excessive tampering with the setup as it stands right now.

And so upgrading is exactly what I am not going to do.
