It Just Died On Me?
« on: March 12, 2007, 06:24:00 AM »

1.) what bios are you using?
2.) how long was your xbox unplugged?
3.) everything works stock (stock HDD, and no chip), right?
4.) what was the error code when it boots to the service screen?

the hardware seems fine. its probably something on the harddrive. like when you unplugged the xbox it lost the time setting (becasue the capacitor lost its charge) and it is trying to ask you to set the time and it cant find the file for the time set screen. which would result in error screen.

try flashing with the X2 5035 and disable the clock check in the .ini file. if its the clock then that will let it boot. even the capacitor should last about 2 or 3 hours. unless it has degraded due to the xbox being old?

boot to the XOS by the eject button too flash the bios.

Is this the modchip?

FLASHING RED:
Dead, broken or empty eeprom.

If so, how do I tell which part it is (dead, broken, or empty eeprom)

lol...sorry for the confusion. those are error lights for problems the chip can cause and they are more related to a modded xbox.

i would try installing the chip. if the clock setting didnt work, the chip must have lost a connection while traveling. check all connections and make sure they are good. check the spiceguide (in my sig) for details. make sure you have the right d0.

Now what happened??

I tried to put the modchip in and got the lights to all light up.  I, next, turned it off and back on; now it wont do anything?  So I took out the modchip and re-assembled.  Now the "EJECT" botton flashes ORANGE and GREEN.

I don't understand.....  Can someone, PLEASE, get back at me.

check for lifted/burnt traces and/or pads on the mother board.

are you sure you have installed everything right? what version is your xbox?

ORANGE/GREEN Flashing:
No AUDIO/VIDEO (A/V) pack.
This may also be down to a solder splash on the board or a damaged track.

the bios should already be flashed. check by going to the launch menu in the XOS.

if not, one of the 2 guides in my sig will walk you through step by step.

use the X2 5035 bios. make sure you use the appropiate version of the bios for your xbox.

I have never done any soldering to my XBox.  I don't see any sign of arcing/blackness or anything on the modchip or motherboard.  I took the XBox apart again to check this and re-attach everything again and it's the same.

HA!!!!!!!!!

I see that you can't just plug in the power cord to test.  The AVI out cord needs to be plugged in aswell.
(sillyness)

Ok, I am back on track, I think.
So, I need to flash my bio's on the modchip.  How is this done??

No he thought is was getting worse because he was getting more error codes.  He forgot to plug the AV cable in.    I know you are getting frustrated but you need to take a break and come back in a few minutes.  Check all the pins to make sure they are touching the in the right place and make sure you mod chip spring loaded pings are  touching in the right spot.
