most phillips can read just about any type of disk you through at it.just to be safe burn the recovery disk on a dvd-r put the disk in the drive, turn the xbox off then put the chip on recovery mode and turn it on.it should do the rest

Ok for clarification we need a couple of things.

There is no "reset" button on an Xbox. So when you power on use the DVD eject button, not the power button. Does the chip go into the OS then?

When you try to run recovery, bet the "restore to factory defaults" version this will clear any settings you may have set and you will need to reflash your bios.

What color is the LED on the chip when it boots to the MSdash? If it is red then you definitely have a problem with either the d0 or pins 1 or 5. Remove your adapter and check for continuity between pin 4 and the d0 hook. take some rubbing alchohol and a qtip and go over the LPC to thuroughly clean it.

I tried using the eject to power on... still dont do anything.
When ever I set it to recovery mode... it does nothing.
The led is red... I have checked so many times. But when I booted it up for the first time it was red, but worked...
I have too rubbing alchohol and the qtip and went over all of them... even over by the d0.

I have a question now... If I take the chip out, will it work then? or are the bios still messed up?

What about the continuity between pin 4 and the d0?

The next step would be getting a fiberglass setup pen and trying to clean the LPC better. You can use a small sharp Xacto but have to be extremeley careful not to damage the LPC.

Until you get the chip working and lock the HD you won't be able to use the Xbox.

maybe that is the little piece of info you were forgetting. since you turned on quick boot it shouldnt boot to anything since you havent added a launch item yet. powering on with the eject button should bring you to the XOS. to why its not beats us.

But see... It was working then I unlocked the hard drive and turned quick boot on... then it wouldnt work.. I didnt touch the chip. I dont know... I will keep trying and I will give yall updates... thx for the help tho.

OK but if the recovery is not working and you are getting a red LED and booting the MSdash to the 05 error, you a mistakinga coincedence as a cause. It is just a coincedence that this happened after the auto boot was set. That is why is I suggested the "restore to factory defaults" recovery.bin because it would eliminate the autoboot.

Use the switch on the chip to force recovery, if you ever have run a recovery from the HD then it is best to let it try to find it once, then if it doesn't unplug the HD and run a recovery from disc.
