Matrix Chip In V1.0 Xbox
« on: November 30, 2006, 04:54:00 PM »

Hey guys. Just got a question for you. I recently bought a used Xbox. Its a v1.0 and it came with an old matrix chip. I installed the chip by following the instructions. It says that in test mode the green light will blink when alligned correctly. Which it does. But when I change the jumper to 1 off/2 on for the chip to be on all the time the xbox will boot up to the screen where it shows the xbox logo then hangs. Then will give me the error screen 07. The xbox logo with the chip set to on is blue by the way.

This is all without any hdd hooked up. I'm going to install a new drive but need the chip working right to do so.

Does anyone have any ideas?

BTW I'm new to modchips, I usually just do softmods. But the old hdd that came with this thing brings up an error code 6. So It must have been locked wrong right?

Yeah, I should have mentioned that. I'm not sure what bios it is. Like I said I just got it and tried it. Also as far as programing it goes. I do not have the programer. It didn't come with it. Is there any other way to flash a new bios onto the chip? Or can I make a homeade USB cable or something for it?

I'm not really sure. I'll be doing more research on it this weekend when I get more time. I do actually have an xchip here that's a few years old that I've never used. Maybe I'll try that out as well to see if I have better luck.

I just hope there isn't something wrong the xbox itself.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. In the mean time I'll give my xchip a try. I have the solderless adapter for it so it should be pretty easy.

I got the xbox working. I did end up installing the Xchip. Got the same results. Then I realized I had the HDD set to master instead of cable select. Once I changed that it worked fine. So I'm assuming that the matrix was fine as well. The Xchip actually works better for this anyway as you can lock/unlock the HDD from within the OS.

Thanks for all your help.
