Help Picking Bios

Ok so I'm totally new to modding. I plan on ordering a xenium the gold one. Is that good? I guess it and the xecuter are the two main ones. What bios should I get for a version 1.6b? I logged into xbins and got the ftp info then I got on the ftp and realized I didn't know what I needed. So what do I need to play back ups from the hard drive? And some good apps? What can I do with a mod chip other than play backups . Thanks for ya’lls help in advance.

get the X2 5035 bios. there will be bioses in there according to your xbox version. since you have a 1.6b you will need this one>>>  x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin.

with a modchip you can FTP, back-up games, run emulators, run alternate dashboards, X-link or something of the sort ("XBL" for modded xboxes)

homebrew software: DVD2XBOX, Avalaunch, evox, etc., XBMC, anything you want thats available.

all you need is a chip with hacked bios and DVD2Xbox to run games from you HDD. most likely the stock HDD will only hold 1 or 2 games. an upgraded HDD is needed for more games.

Thanks I got 5035 last night I couldn’t find it on xbins though I'm sure it's there I'm just not sure where it's located on the ftp I looked through the bios folders but couldn’t find them. I found a direct download via google on a site. I read that there is a back up bios on the xenium in case there is a problem flashing the bios you can reset the bios. Is that right? If so are the directions included with the chip.  And one more question I’m probably going to get the one with the solderless adapter. But I was curious from the guides I read it looks like you solder the various points to the 8 pin connector (I think it was 8 pins). I’m fairly competent when it comes to soldering but I fear buying a solder kit because the pins on those connectors are so close it seem it would be stupid easy to create a solder bridge between two tines. Am I just being paranoid or is it some type of contortionist soldering needed.

The solderless adapter is just that solderless, all install requires is a #20 tqx, and  #10 tqx screwdrivers. Installation is farily simple, and should take you only a matter of minunits to accomplish. Provided everythin goes according to plan.
