Setting Up Avalaunch With A Xenium Ice
« on: October 05, 2006, 10:20:00 PM »

The way my box is set up, it boots up to the Xenium OS. From there I can select what dashboard I would like to use (M$ & Evox currently).

Im trying to set up avalaunch the same way. I paid someone to set up my xbox so I never got a chance to figure out much on this subject. Where should I begin? and could someone refer me to a guide (have been unable to find one).

If you need anymore info from me just ask

Thanks for any help!

the way evox boots is through the bios. you have set to boot evox before the MS dash. and the MS dash is the retail kernal. so in order to have avalaunch on your xbox you will have to put it on as an app or make your bios boot the avalaunch dash before the evox dash.

the boot order should be in the bios .ini file.

It's actually very simple. Copy the Avalaunch files to your C: drive. Then you have two choices.

Rename evoxdash.xbe to evox.xbe and rename avalaunch.xbe to evoxdash.xbe. That will replace Evox with Avalaunch as the default dash.

The second option is to delete the Evox and flash witha new bios edited to launch Avalaunch as the default dash. Most newer bios will search in order for dash files so editing isn't actually necessary, but it speeeds up the load process.

I missed the first time, but it sounds like you just want Avalaunch as another option in the launch menu. Just flash another bios editted so Avalaunch is the default bios.

If you are not that familiar with doing this, this will help: http://www.teamxodus.com/modules.php?name=...etit&lid=72

The SPiceguide has a tutorials that will get you going.

There is also a great app called Xselect that you can replace the evoxdash.xbe with like I mentioned above for Avalaunch. The first time it runs it will search out dash xbes and let you set a default button to each one, so as you boot you would hit say A for Avalaunch, B for Evox, or X for UnleashX. It supports up to 8 dash and apps. Get verion 06, 09 is a little buggy.
