try an OS recovery. it will not hurt any. also back up the HDD and try to reformat it. F drive only if 250GB or less. F and G drives if more than 250GB. use xboxhdm to do this. you will need your EEPROM do to do this.

The drive is 160g and he has already reformatted.

pcoliver, it would be best to eliminate the install as a possible problem before running a recovery because if the install is causing problems with the HD and DVD you do not want it to fail during recovery.

this guy above (gwellan) is the one who re-formatted. not pcoliver.

anyway....

check to see if your connections good and connected. if it is solderless completely take it off and re-install it. but if you can get to your dashboard and use DVD2xbox im pretty sure the connections are fine. but you can try this if you want.

with that said, try a recovery. again it isnt going to hurt anything. also since it is a ICE it is a little old. it could be the chip going out.

ISSUE RESOLVED!!

Hold on to your hats for this one....

I was about to give up when I decided to put the old stock HD back in. I ran the retail bios after locking the HD. I tried to play ghost recon, one of the games that would not play, and an error message came up. Not a disc error or service error but something that I never realized existed before.

Anyone care to guess what else would keep certain games from playing?

what is it? if its not an error code nor a damaged disc/dirty disc what could it be? does it have to do with NSTC/PAL complications?

wow. i think i just wet my pants. i guess i will add that to my "list" problem solvers. you very welcome. make sure post back if you have any other problems.

EDIT: i feel really dumb. i was looking back on the topic and i didnt once mention launching the disc in the retail kernal. and if i would of thought of that it would have fixed everything alot sooner. i think i am going to have to kick myself in the balls.

Forgot to mention that when I try to clear all the files in Z drive I get an error 32. Anyone know what that means? The files stay in the drive. Can't remove. Are they being used somewhere?
