Can't Seem To Get Games To Boot From Hd
« on: September 28, 2006, 06:57:00 PM »

I have a xenium ICE and using avalaunch dash. Burned game to F: with DVD2xbox and also transferred game in to F: via ftp. When I try to launch via the game menu it sits for a few secs and then resets..not reboot..to the avalaunch dash. If I try launching by executing the .xbe in file manager it does the same thing. Can't figure this out. Any help?

clear all files in E:\cache and the X,Y and Z drives. also delete the DVD2Xbox gamesave in the MS dash then ripping your game again.

Thanks for the suggestion on clearing the cache but that didn't work. Actually there wasn't anything to clear as this is a new install and no games have been played yet. It's just very strange. I have never had this happen before.

The cache files usually are created any time you run a game so new install doesn't matter, clearing X Y Z is usually an unecessary step. If you used the clear cache feature in the OS, Try the file manager in Avalaunch instead. Also you may want to edit your bios so IGR is turned off.

What game is this? Does the original work? Do you have the current version of DVD2XBOX?

This is strange as some games will play but they seem to be the older ones like Crash Bandicoot and mx vs atv.  I am now in the process of reformatting my drive and starting over. I will respond again when done as to status. Thanks!

So I just ran a slayer disc, reformatted, added apps, etc. I didn't burn or FTP any games yet. Tried to run the games from the actual discs first and some ran and some didn't. THe ones that ran were Project Gotham Racing, MX vs ATV, and NCAA Football2005/Topspin. Ones that would not run are both Halo and Halo2, Star Wars Battlefront, Ghost Recon all of which run fine on my other mod. HELP!!!

"Also you may want to edit your bios so IGR is turned off."

What is IGR?

Since older games work, have you verified you have the latest DVD2XBOX? If you are using the version from slayers it's not.

You said you were using Avalaunch. I was talking about your bios not evox dash. What bios are you using?

Ok..well I deleted all the cache. I upgraded to dvd2xbox 7.7 and then copied Ghost Recon to the HD. Still would not launch. This time it didn't even go back to the avalaunch dash. It just froze. So I then tried Craxtion on the some of the games on my computer and no luck. Now I have changed back to the orig xbox harddrive. Will load all the same sw that I have done on prev mods..and see what happens. For some reason I am thinking it's a bad hd. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

BTW..what is the best BIOS to use for greater than 160GB drives?

ARRGGGHHH!  It's not the HD and I have used the same disc over and over to do my mods so not sure why this is happening. By process of elimination I'm wondering if it's the chip now. Should I try a recovery?

Once you have launched a bios the chip has no control over whether or no a game plays. What bios are you using.

Have you edited it as suggested? Depending on your xbox version you could just get the appropriate X2 bios.
