Xenium Gold, Boots Into Ms Dash
« on: September 20, 2006, 09:29:00 PM »

Hi All;

I am using Xenium gold with Xapt3r Solderless adapter. Just the adapter with power on shows 3 Blue LEDs. With the Xenium seated on the adapter, Red LED on the Xenium comes up.
d0 wire is pressed firmly onto the d0 hole. I have the hole cleaned with rubbing alcohol before doing this. Same for the LPC holes too.

When I boot, the adapter as blue LED's, Xenium as a Red LED and the console boots into default M$ dash. I have read that main reason for this is the d0 connectivity, but I have checked that (been doing that for last 4 hrs). No good.
What else I can check? Is there a forced way to boot into Xenium? Should it boot into Xenium out of the box or do I need to flash the chip first time?

Thanks.

I had a similar problem with a standard pin header install with a Xenium ICE chip. In my case the chip did not power on at all and the system booted into the xbox default dash. When I resoldered the pinheader it then powered on the ICE chip and all was good. So I guess what I'm trying to say is you probably have a bad connection somewhere.

check the connection between the solderless adaptor and the LPC. and the dO. also make sure the chip is on the right way. the X will be towards the back of the xbox. and make sure the chip is connected good.

If you have the Xapt3r I believe it is for the Xecuter chips only, set for 5v power. If you have the older Xapter it should work but check pins 1 and 5, and for continuity between the d0 hook and pin4.

Yup, its definitely a bad connection somewhere, most likely the d0, but if its not that then its something with the LPC, or a combination of both.

I had the same problem that came and went, and I got tired of smacking the system or pushing it in just the right place to boot up into xenium os.

So i double sided taped a thick piece of paper to the top of the chip, and soldered in the d0.  Haven't had it since for 3 months now.
