have you tried removing the mircosoft kernal from your launch menu then re-adding?

I currently have a box of a friend that does the exact same thing. You get nothing.......just a daunting blackness. From what I've read the problem appears to be a corrupt MS bios. A new copy your appropriate MS bios version can be flashed back to the TSOP but at this stage I'm yet to perform this myself. There are some guides on reflashing the TSOP in the tutes section. I have a similar thread posted here and from what I gather the '29 wire' TSOP flash method is what I'll need to use. You might like to have a browse through the TSOP forum here too.

Also, are you able to boot your MS dashboard ok from whatever dashboard you have installed. If so, that tells you that at least the files for the MS dash are ok.

Finally, as to other possible causes, I'm not 100% sure that its a corrupt TSOP and am actually wondering if a corrupt EEPROM might be the cause. What were you doing before the problem occurred? Did you notice anything wierd and have you ever had EEPROM troubles with your box in the past...???

the X2 bios boots the dash without showing the xbox logo.
ive backed up the eeprom several times....i still have my stock HD in.
so if i remove the retail from launch menu and add it back by adding TSOP..i should be good??

FIXED...had to run the live option through a live enabled game (w/o an ethernet cord connected) and it updated the dash files for me...thanks for the suggestions though

say that again man? error 13 means there's a problem with your MS dashboard files. With the box that I'm trying to fix I FTP'd in a new set of MS dash file but that didn't help.

So you simply booted a live enebled game from Evox or UnleashX or whatever and activated the LIVE feature (without actualy being connected to the net so as to not get banned). I'd appreciate it if you could  elaborate a bit more on the specifics?

Thanks

ok....u put in a live enabled (halo, doom etc) launch the game from where ever..i used my x2 bios which boots to MS dashboard since i dont have evox put on yet. i selected the live option which should ask u if u want to start troubleshooter since it cant detect live....select yes.  it will then go to the MS dashboard and update if needed be (most likely) then it will start the troubleshooter which u can ignore!!! if u have any questions post back!!!
