or is it the Stryker that comes out last January?

Isn't this just asking for trouble from would-be modchip fakers?

I mean it's easy enough to 'reverse engineer' a modchip... but this is just like giving them a quick and easy design to go by

Ok, production issues are over. It was said that they were having those issues, if you missed, try reading more.

As far as the dummy pcb, who cares. Dont want it, dont buy the chip. Or throw it away.

Some of you guys coming into the forums bitching everytime xodus makes an announcement is a joke. And this time there wasnt any hype, so diggin up the old shit is pointless and off topic. So what, they're including a little token with the chip. Again, whats the difference? Your still purchasing the chip.

Point is, the news post was just that, news. No hype (like what we're used to). No BS. No vaporware. Just a simple post saying "we fixed the problem, stock should be available, and heres a token". Honestly, no reason for the lameness.

If all you have to do is to come into these forums, hell, any of the forums, and flame at every little post, get a life. Life has many more important issues that need addressing.

I've only been here about 2 years, but in the last year, x-s has been on a big slide down.

Anyway:

On topic post: Nice to see some stock on the way. Now I can finally get my sons box chipped and lose the softmod.

I think the 'dummy Xenium' would look phat glued to the side of my box, sort of like and 'Intel Inside' but for your Xbox! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Nicely said mrjkwik! I sadly agree with you on the downhill thing. The original half of xbox modding is pretty much over in my eyes, when 360 hacks start coming out, these forums might buzz like they used to, but not now.

This is complete speculation, but I'm willing to bet that the free PCB is one of the "production problem" models. Perhaps there's a mistake on this PCB that they have fixed and now they've got thousands of bad PCBs lying around that they need to get rid of? In some countries it can be expensive to throw away those things...

The guys that were responsible for the xenium ice ran away, so they switched manifacturer to a well know established modchip distributor

Ya know I've been having to deal with this for a while...heres my thoughts on the matter.

Great, a gold PCB. It doesn't change the past. Sure some people will still buy it for an easy solderless solution but the problem is..how many people still have faith in them? They hurt themselves and disappointed many customers. You know how many customers I've had to apologize to on their behalf? I lost count in February. Even more people ended up going to a competitors chips just because they couldn't wait. Xodus shot themselves in the foot by not being entirely forthcoming about this situation. Updates were few and far between.

I understand there were problems with stocking but they need to be more honest with everyone. Give everyone the whole story about what happened and what went wrong (I would..but its not my place as I'm not a representative of Xodus and they can probably give it better than I can) and give solid ETA'S on when this will all be corrected.

Before you assume someone is griping just for the hell of it..remember that a lot of people have reason to be pissed off at Xodus. You don't know if hes been waiting 4-5 months for a chip. Even if he hasn't, he still does have a right to be vocal and say what happened/is happening is wrong. Its why forums exist, to voice your opinions whether people agree or disagree with those opinions.

I like the chips they make, I really do. I just wish they could have come in about 3-4 months ago. Better late then never but they may have hurt themselves badly here.

I use to totaly support team xodus. and the Xenium series chip. But after I got a SmartXX V3 (I got tired of waiting for gold to come out.) I found out that SmartXX does somthing their chip didn't do. I have an old Xenium Blue with 2.3 on it. and I was not able to repair a bad Eprom flash. I was how ever with the SmartXX V3 chip. So after this happened I decided that I was no longer going to support them. I really liked the product and the OS. But it just pissed me off that I had to get a totaly diffrent chip to repair that broken xbox. And it didn't help that gold is still not out. I mean why tell everyone that it is and then take so long on getting production ready. So anyone that asks me now what chip to get that wants alot of control over the xbox. I'm going to tell them something else other than xenium.
