Controller Not Responding Is It Modchip Related
« on: March 17, 2006, 07:38:00 AM »

I bought a used xbox 1.0 with xenium ice solderless chip installed. in the postal journey the coppoer wire came loose from its slot and the chip was also not seated properly. I opened up the box and put hard glue on the wire and seated the chip back and now it gets to the dashboard but I cant use my controller now. I tried 4 different controllers but I cant move through the menu or select anything. Is it related to the modchip or is something else wrong. I am thinking of returning the box and asking for refund. Any ideas?

when you pulled the xbox apart to hard glue the wire back onto position, did you by any chance happen to unplug the USB connector wires for your controller ports whilst trying to get to the motherboard?

Even if you don't recall unplugging them, I'd pull the box apart again and double check that the plugs are properly connected. If you don't know what to look for, there will be two sets of different coloured wires that run out from behind the metal grill in the front of the box (there should also be a set of yellow wires). Find the corresponding pin locations for USB plugs on the motherboard (they're on the upperside of the board at the front, one on the left and one of the right) and either plug them back in or make sure they seated properly.

Hopefully that'll get you out of trouble.

If you're able to boot your dashbard then the install sounds fine and I don't see why the modchip would interfere with controller fucntions.
