Hard Drive Upgrade Wizard

hmmmm.....I've never used the EvoM8 bios but i'm wondering if when you used EVtool to configure it whether an LED colour preference has changed. I dont koew if the bios even has such a feature but open up a copy of the reconfigured M8 bios on your PC and have a look through the settings, maybe theres and option there to specifiy the front LED colour and yours is set to red.

As an alternative, just bar the EvoM8 bios, flash your XII 4983.06 instead, re-install the original drive, reformat your large drive during the harddrive upgrade wizard and you'll be sweet. By the sounds of it you've gotten the hang of how to do all these things so it wont even take that long. At least it'll be a bug free fresh install.

oh snap, you are right.  There was an LED setting in the EVTool that I changed I think.  Opps.  Well that relieves me of that worry at least.  Still going to do the fresh install and re-do the HD upgrade wizard from my old -> new drive.  Thanks for all of your help though.  Should I really do F only or just break down and do F/G drives?

So I put my original HD back in and did the HD upgrade over again.  I chose F only, but in FlashFXP it still shows a G drive when I ftp into the box when XOS is loaded, even though I chose not to create one.  Is that normal?

Regardless, I'm going to give the xecuter bios a shot now.  Wish me luck!

Before I do this, let me make sure I have this right.

1- Copy the 4983.06 bios bin file to my C drive on my xbox via FTP
2- Flash the bios in XOS
3- Copy Evox Dash files over
4- Copy XBMC files over & Rename the XBMC dash file as evoxdash.xbe

Done?

Now I am coming across something about an x2config.ini file.  Is that a file I should have with the x2 bios I downloaded or do I need to create it?  Is there an x2 bios install guide anywhere?

you can't use x2.4983 on a 1.6 xbox. you want x2.5035 and just do a search there are plenty of tuts on how to set it up.

i'll give it a shot.  You think it will solve my problem with evox only seeing my drive as 123GB instead of the full 240 or so that should be left?

Should I look into XBpatitioner to try and resolve this space issue? When I did the HD upgrade again I again chose F only, yet can't get the xbox to see the space that is there (should be 240GB or so free).

When I FTP in via flashFXP when XOS is loaded, it see's G anyway.  When Evox M8plus_16 bios & dash is loaded and I ftp in, G is not there, but F reads incorrectly, and there is a folder of gibberish chartacters when I look in my F drive in FlashFXP.  Any MORE advice on that issue?  I don't know what else to try except the X2 BIOS.

Well I got the X2.5035 1.6 bios installed and running, with Evox dash.  Still doesn't see my f drive right.  I don't know what else to try.  I set the config file for f drive to take up the rest of the drive with X2ool...but it still doesn't freaking work.  Should anything show up in the X2config ini file about LBA48?  If so, how should it read.  After using X2ool, there is still nothing in the x2config.ini file referring to the lba48 support.

I am beginning to think this problem will never be solved, no matter what bios is used.  I can't think of anythnig else, so any further help would be appreciated.  Should I put this HD in a computer and format it?

Anyway, maybe pictures will help everyone understand my problem.  This is what I am seeing when FTPing into my xbox while evox dash is loaded (xecuter 5035 v1.6 bios or evox M8plus_16)

(IMG:http://home.comcast.net/~r.pfeffer/robsweb/fdriveEvox.JPG)

As a side note, when ftping in this way, at the root, no G drive shows up.

However, this is what F looks like when just ftping into the xbox when just XOS is loaded.

(IMG:http://home.comcast.net/~r.pfeffer/robsweb/fdriveXOS.JPG)

Not to mention, at the root I can see the G drive.  What gives?  Sjhould I redo the HD upgrade again and do F & G this time, since just F will obviously not work, or am I missing something easy?  I appreciate anyone that will be able to help me with this, as I am becoming extremely frusterated.

sorry for steering you towards the x2_4983 PSUPef2k, I didn't realise the v1.6s had an issue running it. As to configuring the 5035 bios, did you follow the X2OOL tute (by Pezzar) on how to do this? If not heres a link to the tute.....

Did that last night.  Still same problem as in my post above yours.  Why is flashfxp showing that folder with random characters when in evox dash, but nothing when in just XOS?  And why does the G still show up when in XOS when FTP'd into the box, and in the xenium disk tools settings when you go to format a drive?  Does that even TOUCH the partition?  Is there something else I could use to format the F partition correctly, because even after I do a format of F in the XOS disk tools, that gibberish folder of random characters still shows up when I FTP into the box when in evox dash.

Well, I restarted from scratch last night and everything is now great.  Did an F/G split this time, evox & xbmc both see it fine.  Can't wait to start copying stuff over tonight.

Thanks for your help everyone!  I am sure I will be back for more.  Hopefully not too soon though!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
