Just for shits and giggles: remove the top of the xbox and see how long it lasts. Might be a heat issue. Thats as good a place to start as any.

Does it stay on if you power it on through your stereo? If I am understanding that correctly.

Let me know what happens.

Go into the XOS and make sure the HD is locked. Then try running the box with the chip out. It sounds like you may have a component failing from heat or a short. This will eliminate the chip.

You could try a fan mod and up the fan speed in the dash. But a ne MB and stock fan might fix the problem as well
