Question On Ice Installation On 1.6 Xboxes
« on: February 25, 2006, 09:48:00 AM »

I have a 1.6 xbox (a or b... dont know) and Im looking to install a xenium ice. Ive done the lpc rebuild, all looks really good, but theres a problem with the pin header. When I try to stick the chip onto it, theres a capacitor in the way... Ive looked at many diagrams and the chips certainly positioned correctly, just theres a capacitor in the way of one of the corners of the chip.

Ive slightly bent it out of theway and it works, but is there a more elegant way to do this, or is the chip size just not thought out very well?

I dont know if its a problem with other versions, but on the 1.6's, just set it so the chip rests on top of the capacitor. It's not that it's a poorly designed chip, but it's made to be used with all versions of xboxes.

Mine was the same way, so just to be safe I put a piece of thin paper/cardboard material that was laying on my desk in between the two. All works well smile.gif
