Xenium Os Hard Drive Issues
« on: December 26, 2005, 05:47:00 PM »

Does the hard drive work at all?  What was the error that the Xenium OS gave?  Did you check with the Xbox hard drive compatability site before you bought the hard drive?  It might not lock and unlock correctly.

Here' s the site:  http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/

After some testing it appears that I can see my hard drive's partions if I use Xenium OS 2.0.1 however the G partion doesn't show up at all and the continence of the F partition only show up as a bunch of random scrambled characters. Apart from that everything else atleast appears as it should be.

I checked the compatibility chart in advanced it's on there as a lockable drive (Seagate ST3300831A). The Error I received when using Xenium's Drive Upgrade Wizard was simply- "An Error occurred!" when it tried to format the new drive.

I gave up with Drive Upgrade Wizard and eventually got my drive up and running using Slaver's Auto Installer Disk 2.6. When I boot up iND bios and go to my dashboard or use XBMC I can see and use my new drive perfectly. It’s Only before I boot a bios when I'm in the Xenium Os Menu Screen can I not see any of my new HD's partitions I can however lock and unlock my new drive from Xenium OS. I wouldn’t care so much except this means I can’t flash my modchip’s Bios without burning it to a CD, Can’t Install new skins for Xenium Os, Can’t use Xenium Os to copy a partion ect.

I had the exact same problem with my 400GB Seagate 16MB cache...no ideas since I had flashed it from my stock drive.

I have had the same problems with the drive upgrade wizard, it has bugs and can't handle large drives.

You have to be sure that you have the latest version of the xenium os and that the f and g drives are enbaled.

As for the scrambled letters, I had that problem too when ftp-ing from my pc to my xbox with xenium.  I figured out that the xenium os doesn't support file and folder names bigger than a certain length.  Also don't use weird symbols and/or extra dots in file and folder names.

I hope this helped  unsure.gif

The OS is buggy as hell and lots of users have problems but Team Xodus don't give a shit.

I've installed 2 - 80gb (Seagate), 3 - 160 gb (Seagate), and 2 - 250gb (Maxtor) using the drive update wizard and the only problem that I have come across is when you try to copy over your F drive (I never use G drive).  The problem was that it took around 9.5 hours to copy over everything from an 80 to a 160 and another time I let in run while we were out of town to copy over an 80 to a 160 and we came back 3 days later and it STILL wasn't done.  I just reformatted and reinstalled my games from my backups.  I always make sure that my OS is 2.3.0 before I even start anything major, make sure that I can lock and unlock the hd, and make sure the time and date are correct in the MS dashboard.  I agree with Mungie3 (except for the F and G  partitions).  smile.gif

make sure that your jumper on your new hd is set to slave when you try to back it up or it WILL throw an error - had it happen  dry.gif
