Help - Backing Up Eeprom
« on: December 20, 2005, 07:53:00 PM »

I believe Xenium OS has an option to lock the HDD for you. So simply stick the unlocked, prepared HDD in there, boot to Xenium OS, and find the lock hdd option. Then go from there with whatever the hell you're going to do with it.

And out of curiosity, does the 'fried' hdd work at all or is it completely dead?

Help - Backing Up Eeprom
« Reply #1 on: December 20, 2005, 08:01:00 PM »

Haven't exhausted all the options regards the original hard disk yet, but the Xbox does teh Green/Red flash with an error 5.  I might try it in a PC to see if I can do anything with it later, or does anyone have anything else I can try....

Hmmm - is it possible to use the 10GB Xbox hard disks in a PC - a simple reformat job ????

My new Hard disk is a 250GB Maxtor, and it's not on the list of drives that have been tried - it's a 5A250J0 and when I tried to "lock" the disk using the Xenium OS, it wasn't able to.....so I was hoping to back up the eeprom and use the xboxhd tools to lock the drive manually, if you like....

If it's as simple as the fact the the disk isn't compatible, I'll just grab another disk and try that instead...

Whatcha think?
