Xice On 1.0 Need Help
« on: December 09, 2005, 06:21:00 PM »

i have a 1.0 that i got abought 2 years ago refurb from gamestop i chiped it with a xenium ice as soon as i got it and have had alittle bit of problems with the solderless pice not getting a good connection with the hole closest to you on the left if your looking from the frount of the box and the d0 wire is getting flimpsy as of recent i have had problems described here

baicly what its doing is tryes to boot twice then boots to red/green flashing (all with no a/v what so ever) i have tryed taking out the chip this fixes the problem ive also tryed the recovery setting on the chip it boots normal loads the recovery screen flashes ornge then halts with full red

so im not sure what the problem is if i fryed the chip or its just the solderless chip that isent getting a good connection im verry reluctunt to do the pin header install becuase i dought i could get a good solder on the d0

anyone know what it could be and what i would have to do to fix it?

Thanks in advance

press the chip firmly down onto the adapter/mobo....then turn the screw 1/4 turn tighter than you think (DO NOT STRIP THE SCREWHOLE ON THE ADAPTER)

It also helps to use the paper trick on the screw end of the adapter.  Wedge a piece of paper under the plastic end of the adapter and when you screw it down, the paper will push the screw side of the adapter upwards a bit thus pushing the far end of the adpater downwards a bit.  This will help ensure all the pins are flush against the lpc.

It's pretty common for the system to FRAG (flash read and green) when a solderless adapter is improperly installed.
