firstly the little switch needs to be covering the black square.

the fact ur getting error 5 (HDD unlocked) means the xbox is trying to boot the M$ dash. this means the D0 connection is failing. if the D0 was good when you power up you'd get the OS screen. (unless you enabled instant boot or quickboot in that case power up using eject button)
