Thanks for the reply.

I switched the switch so it covers the little black square but now it boots like a regular Xbox.

Does this mean a bad connection somewhere? I checked & checked these connections.

I tried at least 5 times since I wrote to install it again. It still boots to the M$ dash.

I wanted post again because I didn't think I did it correctly the first time. <sorry>

I placed the chip back on top of the spike looking things. The only "beep" I ever hear is when I place the one end on where it says D0 (on the chip) and the other on the hook going into the D0 itself.

Is that correct?

Thank you again.

the beep is probably coming from the hard disk

check firstly you have the correct D0 point
take the adapter off and check continuity between pin 4 and the d0 hook (look at the bottom of the adapter and you'll see pin 4 is missing. so check continuity between the D0 hook and the top part of the pin that you can see)
then re fit and check that the D0 is in correctly

the v1.0 really is one of the easiest boxes to mod, make sure to prepare the box properly first

I'm an idiot...I now know what you are talking about. I had to read it 40 times to get it...Sorry once again.

Ok, I tested the pin 4 (underneath the chip, the open spot) and the hook. I do get continuity. I get a beep if that means continuity.

Is that a good thing? In the meantime I will once again put it back and try it.

Still didn't work...

I know that hook is in the D0 perfectly. The thing doesn't move.

You can spend less time and effort trying to get your adapter to work then ultimately realligning it many times by soldering it in once and for all.  It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

If he is having problems with the solderless his chances of soldering are not so great besides it is not certain what the problem is, despite the constant repetition of "blah blah blah solder, blah blah blah pay somebody, blah."

look carefully at the LPC the pins locations are numbered on the mobo
basically looking from the front to the back of the xbox, pin 4 is where there is no hole in the motherboard
