Ice Suddenly Wont Boot. No Video. Green Led
« on: October 25, 2005, 11:14:00 AM »

is this coincidence?  this just happened to me friday and it's been bugging me ever since!  Like you, I've had it for a little over a year problem free.  Now when I try to power on though, no video and just a power led.  Is that the lifespan of the chip?

Did the xbox work without the chip?  I was gonna try that tonite and if it did, maybe just softmod it instead.  Anyone know what is going on?  Anyone else have this problem?  It can't be coincidence can it?

Does the box boot with the chip taken off the LPC?  What does it do if you put it in recovery mode?

ahhh, i ran into the same problem as you when i removed my chip.  completely forgot that my xbox HD is unlocked.  let me know how you do.

i think my case is slightly different though.  i can turn it on once a day at best, but once i reset it to play another game or whatever, video disappears and only activity is the LEDs.  wonder what happened...

Recovering the bios seemed to do the trick:

I just put the chip into recovery mode, powered on, and inserted a dvd burned w/ a recovery iso i grabbed from www.teamxodus.com. After a few seconds the xbox powered off. I switched the chip out of recovery mode, powered on and it worked!!

It's now running the 2.0 Public Beta OS, but I really dont care right now. I'm just happy everything's fine.

Can someone hook me up with a link to the recovery.bin over at teamxodus?  I search on their site and I find just one file and when I go to download it, I get an error that it doesn't exist on the server.  So annoying!

Thanks for the info.  I gave that all a shot and was able to get back to the OS of the Xenium chip.  Now I'm having other problems but it would be off topic to post in this thread.  Thanks again!
