About 1/3 Of The Time The Chip Won't Boot Up....
« on: March 26, 2005, 08:35:00 AM »

Hey all, I got my chip just aobut 2 days ago, and everything has been goin pretty well. Then I start getting this problem that if I leave my Xbox on for a while (maybe 10-15 minutes) the Xenium chip seems to shutoff. So I reboot and the chip is a solid red led. Then I have to wait about 10 minutes just to be able to boot on with the chip on too.

Anyone know what's wrong?

Now this is getting bad.

I took off the chip, put it back on and really tightened it.

Now it boots, then powers off, boots, then powers off, then boots and FRAG's., No audio or video.

Wtf is happening?

Its not alligned.  First take the adapter and everything out to make sure the board is ok.  If it botts normally, then the board is ok, if it frags your in trouble.  If it boots ok just turn it off and start trying to allign it again.

Ok, I took the chip off, and the Box booted fine. No problems.

I put the chip on again, and still it shuts it's self off after 10-15 minutes.

Is this a bug?

No it isn't a bug, it sounds like its not getting a decent connection.  Try playing it without the chip for a while and see if it does it still, if its fine then you know its the chip.  If you solder it in you shouldn't have the problem.

What do you people mean by soldering it?

Do I just solder the adapter to the LPC?

No, either desolder the lpc then install the pin header or use the quicksolder method.
