Usb Jump Drive
« on: February 21, 2005, 06:20:00 PM »

OK. I have my Xenium Ice in the mail. I want to install a "hacked" bios on it. I want to flash it via a usb jump drive. When I go to install the new bios, what drive will the chip recognize the jump drive as? Also, let's say I wan't to install a 160 gig hdd. Will the Xenium OS format the G: partition or what?

About the USb - I don't know - FTP it's a lot easier.

About the HDD upgarde - no - it will not format H partition - only partition C

OK so lets say that I get the chip up and running. If I format the new 160gb hdd, what will happen if I go to disk drives and I select format partition (a partition is the C:, F:, E:, etc.... files right)? Will it allow me to format it so I can have the full 160 gb?

Ya or you can use slayers which formats the drive and prepares it all in one shot.

I'm a n00b at this as you can tell. What do I do with slayers? Do I just insert it after I have a hacked bios and dashboard installed? Does a screen come up asking me if you would like to format a hdd? Or is it something like that? What are the steps? Thanks.

Its a self installer.  Just install the chip, load a bios, then pop in slayers.  You don't need a dash, you can even use a blank hd, it doesn't matter.  Then you will have some options like install new large hd, rebuild retail hd, lock hd, etc.  Then you just select install new large hd, then it will say something like c or f just say c, then let it install.  Once its done, you can restart and have a fully prepped drive.

OK. One more question. If I install a bios to my chip, will I be able to boot the bios without a dashboard? Lets say I can, I just pop in slayers and away I go. Oh yeah, one more thing before I forget. Can I boot to the hacked bios with a blank hdd in? Or will it give me a message? Also, how do I get the game from the disk to my computer (when I insert it the only file my computer will show is that video file) Thanks guys.

You really should search these kinds of questions.  Just connect the new blank hd in, then load the hacked bios, and you will get error 13.  Now put in the slayers disc and turn off the xbox with the disc in.  Now turn the xbox on and boot the hacked bios again and it will boot from the disc.  From there you can format and prepare the drive.  A pc dvdrom cannot read xbox discs, you must use the xbox itself to backup your games.  There are plenty of tutorials and dozens of ways to do this.  The easiest is dvd2xbox (don't ask where to get it its illegal).

Yes, yes... and the ones in bold are all you need; put them on C: if you're manually installing the dash.
