Newbie Help!
« on: February 16, 2005, 08:28:00 PM »

I installed EvoxM8.  Added it to launch and it launches what looks like the MS dashboard with a red Evo X, but the menu items are the same (memory, music, live, settings) I did upload the evox ini and xbe files after editing the ini to the same folder as the BIOS.  Still I see no different dashboard.  Also I still can not update from 2.0.1 to 2.3 XOS.  I've tried locked/unlocked a CD with switching the recovery switch on the chip still get DataNotReady!  I thought this was going to be a fun thing, but it's turning into a PITA.  Any and all help is appriciated.  I've read all the Xenium manuals and all and think I'm doing it the right way.

Thanks,

Marc

I downloaded the EVTool and loaded the M8 BIOS in it, how do I transfer it to the Xbox?  My set up looks exactly like it does on their wabsite like below, what next?  Thank you.

(Or, use evtool and change the path to the .xbe in the "Boot partitions and executables" section.)

Ok, the EvolutionX V4393 is loaded on my screen.  What is there to do with this dashboard? Settings, Flash Bios, Backup, and Skins!  How do I get an FTP program on the xbox?  FlashFXP does not see the contents of each folder on the HDD?  I know these are probably repedative questions, but I'm trying to learn.  I have brain overload with all the reading I do, but not much seems to work.  My real goal is to burn games and/or copy them to the 200 gig drive I put in.
Thank you!

**EDIT**

Alright, my bad.  I hit launch menu and in the apps folder I had put dvd2xbox and found how to copy games to the HDD.  What is the easiest way to backup games on a dvd-r disk?

Now you have to download an FTP Program such as FlashFXP and install it on your PC. Then you can FTP back and forth to the Xbox - PC.

What I found was, FlashFXP will not show the contents of each folder.  So I used IE and FTP'd in no problem, I can see it all.  I then updated the Xenium OS to 2.0.2 successfully, then updated to 2.30 successfully.  I'm pretty happy now.  Just need info on the easiest way to make a backup disk (DVD) of my games!

You'll ned DVD2Xbox to download them to your Xbox HDD and then you'll need Quix101 to get it from the HDD through Avalaunch to create an .iso to burn.

It isn't an "issue," the data handling is ment to be PORT. the FTP engine for the Xenium chip is only built/specified to handle small loads, PASV mode is particularly used to transfer large numbers of files at higher speeds, no such need is needed for the Xenium FTP capability.

As far as the "Show all/Hidden files" thing, it isn't a Xenium issue either, it's that way for all FTP programs/clients with the Xbox.

I'm pretty happy with the IE's FTP results.  It seems Craxtion 4  is supposed to do what I need it to, but I get Unhandled Exception errors with it.  I checked their board, it seems so have a few others, so is Quix101 available at the "usual" place?
