paper trick.  take a piece of paper, fold it up to a very tiny but think square.  put it under the solderless adapter towards the back of the "ring" where the screw is.  it forces the front of the adapter where the pins are to level out.  i just took a small zip tie and snipped a small piece of it off and did the same thing.  worked fine.  but i have a soldered d0 wire.  i dont like the "spring" wires.  but this is only sitting in a stock box for when i swap the chip in to check the hdd.   my actual mod box is soldered.  i say if your having such a problem with the solderless adapter, take the time to solder it in.  or find someone that can.  thats the only way your gonna know for 100% if the chip is bad.

I may just solder it in.. I just didnt want to waste the time going to get a soldering iron and doing it, and have the chip still not work..  but I guess it'd be a good thing to have a soldering iron around the house anyway

just think about it..
the points farthest from the screw hole don't sit flush with the board.. they stick up a little..  put something small on the other side of the screw, and it'll cause the adapter to lean forward..

don't know why I didn't think of it.  will try when i get home later

first one they sent me, one of the wires came right out of the plug, now the second one.. it was working last night, but now it isn't working at all.

and this is weird, I have another xbox with a chameleon chip that I took off, so I could try the adapter from it on the xenium chip, which didnt work, so I tried putting it back in my xbox, and then it didnt want to work either.  but today I tried again, and still didnt get a light... but I hooked it up anyway just to see what it was doing, and the chameleon is working fine, but it's not lighting up. wtf? lol
