I had it working fine, 2 minutes later, red light on the chip. means its not lined up right, correct?

so I take it off and try a few times and get it working, then it does it again.... try again, get it working.. managed to update xos & upgrade my hd, then a red light again. now nothing I try will give me a green light. some times I don't get any light at all, sometimes I get a red light. Either this chip is a pos, or the solderless adapter is a pos.

it's the solderless adapter that is crap, Do yourself a a favor and solder the chip in.
solderless adapter is a POC, I'm using the solderless adaptor that came with the Chameleon chip.

I'm using the rivets, and here's what it's doing at the moment... I put the adapter on, try to boot the xbox just to see, works fine..
I stick the chip on it, and then it starts cutting off and on.

I guess that soldering is the only way to go

Its the adapter, they are crap. If you can't solder, pay someone near you to do it for you/

just to see..
I put the pin header on the board and stuck the chip on it and plugged that 2 wire thing into the chip and put the blue one to the d0 point and the black to ground, and got the same red light

If the points are merely touching, they wont have the same connection as they would if they were one unit as is the case when you solder. Soldering takes the two points and makes them into one. If you just stick the pinheader in the lpc its actually not touching the lpc holes, it sites just inside them, hence they need to be soldered. No offense, but honestly ppl like you should not be modding, your the exact candidate for a premod or have a pro install the chip for you.

Two solderless adapters, on two Xenium ICE installs.

V1.4 with gromits never a problem.

V1.0 with filled in lpc holes...required me to re-seat the adapter once.

The only beeef I have with solderless adapter is the Possibility that the DVD tray sliding in & out, over time, can cause a marginal install to go bad.

If you are looking to transport your box from house to house to dorm etc... you should consider soldered install. Mine never move.
