Retail Kernel Will Not Load
« on: January 15, 2005, 10:18:00 AM »

After too many hours and a burn here and there, I finally soldered everything in and powered on the XBOX fine.  The first time I powered it on, I immediately went to set up the Retail Kernel from TSOP.  This booted up perfectly fine, then I set the clock.

Since the XBOX ran through fine the first time, I took it off the power source and went ahead to install the LED extension thing that came with my Xenium ICE.  After this, I plugged the XBOX back in and powered it back up, tried loading Retail Kernel, but all it does now is power off the XBOX for 2 seconds and restarts on the Xenium dash.  What is happening here?

On a side note, I loaded EvoX M8+ BIOS onto the chip, and that runs fine.  I set the clock through the M8+ bios (is this the same clock as on the MSDash?)  I'm just curious as to why my Retail Kernel isn't booting up anymore.  :uhh:

Thanks for your help guys!

So - the first time work great - so you decide to install external led.

It may be because you move something - just check the chip again - same thing happend to me - so i had to FLASh te bios.

What xbox version do you have. If you have AIM i may be able to help you.

What OS version do you have? I've had the same problem as you, and was fixed when I updated the Xenium OS.

Your chip is on fine....  don't fiddle with it anymore....

You have to install the MS bios the same way you installed the M8 Bios.

You have to find the right version of the MS bios that your xbox uses.  To do this, go to the MS dash (any way possible), go to settings > xbox info (or something)(the one scrolls)

Anyways, wait til the end, and it'll give you a code:
K:1.00.****.01
D:1.00.****.01

It's the K value that you need

take the "*" value for K, then go to the "usual places"  and find the BIOS.

Put it somewhere on the xbox hard drive, then Launch Item > Add Item > locate the file, then voila!

hope this helps

Did you remember to backup the eeprom after you flashed the tsop and set the time? If so run the restore epprom from backup in the OS. Also try deleting and replashing the tsop.

Yes, your chip is perfect - don't touch it anymore.

- Same thing happend to me - retail kernel was working perfectly but one day didn't work - so what i did - from Xenium OS i remove retail kernel and flash it agian - but this time it say - RETAIL KERNEL -A i don't know why i got that
-A thing.

So what i did was. I have xbox version 1.0 - so i downlaod the original bios from (you know where - if nt - then PM me and i may be able to help you) i get the original bios - send it to my HDD and flash it - i did not choose TSOP i choose FLASH and  then i look for the bio o my HDD - and everything works perfect.

What you ahev to do is this. What is your Xbox version

go to xbins and download original bio. Send it to your xbox via FTP - to your E or C root - then - go to Xenium OS - go to Add New item - choose FLASH - do not chosoe TSOP - and after you choose FLASH look for the bio you send via FTp to either C or E - then choose NAME and then color - and you are DONE

This works perfectly - I play Xbox Live and everything - works great - all you need is your xbox versions and you K number

K 1.0.0...0093 (something like this)
