Have opened my Xbox to get a look at where to make a controller on/off switch mod.

However having put it back together it no longer appears to be working.

The DVD -drive no longer opens and the Xbox dashboard (or Xbox logo no longer appears) Just a black screen.

Anyone got any advice?

way it sounds is something is not plugged in all the way. push all connections in very good, or u could have broken traces IF xbox is fragging (flashing red) <

I don't get any Red or Amber lights.

If i press the eject button enough times i can get into the Dashboard, but success is tempremental. If i try to load a game the whole thing crashes.

The dvd whirrs a lot, like it's trying to read a disc (even though the tray is empty)

Is it a broken DVD drive?

more then likely the dvd drive, but it shouldnt be that thats causing xbox several times to boot.....hhhmmm..... <

does anything spin up at-all?,
can you see fans spinning? hear hard drive spinning?

can you post a digital photo of what you did inside the xbox?

Re-open your xbox, take all the shit out again, then put it back together, making sure all connections are tight and good. <

Make sure the ide ata33 or ata100 if you switched is connected. <
