Well, I think now bought a clone or fake chip.

I originally purchased a Chameleon.  It didn't work.  So I sent it back and as it turns out they were out of stock.  So they sent me a Xenium instead.  Took a while to actually get the chip.  It didn't come with accessories.  I wasn't too worried at the time.  It took so long to get resolved I had already bought another chip for that box.  So I checked this one just to make sure it worked.  It did so I put it away until it was needed.  Got it all installed in a box and wanted to update to 2.0.1 to get the disk tools menu.  That is where it all died.

I understand why Xodus hates fakes and clones.  I thought I was buying from a legit dealer.  But their update kills the clones.  It is not really fair to unknowing people like me.  They should have made the update not work on a clone without killing the clone.  They didn't hurt the clone makers pocket book by doing this.  They hurt mine.  I can't remember what I paid for the original Chameleon I bought, but it was like $60 with shipping or so.  I had to pay to send it back, $35 dollars.  So now I am out like $100 and no chip.

At this point I need to buy another chip.  I have always supported Xodus products.  I purchased way more Matrixs than I can even remember.  Bought them 10 at a time I used so many.  I really liked the Chameleon.  The Xenium is nice, more features than anyone really needs.  But if you want to go all out the Xenium has cool stuff ready to go.

It still comes down to Xodus killed my chip.  So my delima is whether to continue to purchase their products or switch sides.  It just really annoys me they did this.  If I had known I had a clone and the upgrades would kill a clone I would have just settled for not upgrading the XOS.  Damn them.

Return the chip to your reseller, or do a chargeback on your creditcard, citing fraud as the reason.

This is the RESELLERS wrongdoing, not ours.  Make them responsable.

Also, btw, we stated several times, in posts, readmes, and on our site, that the updates are for original xenium only, and will only function on original xenium.

well i bet they're trying to do that... give them a break no one's perfect and nothing works flawlessly.  Sorry you had to be one of the misfortunate ones to get a fake, or clone.

yeah... I'm afraid of this happening. I bought my chip just b4 all the clone stuff started comming out, and since then I've been afraid of upgrading the bios. I don't want this to happen. I'm pretty sure I have a legit xenium, but it doesn't seem worth the risk when the chip can get fried.

teamXodus: you might want to consider a "check if my chip is a clode/fake" option. Maybe a pc app that can connect through the network... or an iso you can boot from dvd drive... or a hdd app... I dunno. But, I think it's a shame that the clones would prevent your customers from taking advantage of the OS updates.

Always teste the mod before you upgrade it.
I´ve modded 2 xbox´s for my friends and both turned out to be fakes.

You can test the Xenium with this little app.

so I tried it, and i just got a blank screen. There was no readme so I'm not exactly sure what it's supposed to do.

Did you just put the default.xbe or all the files on the box?

all the files... but apparently (according to an op on #teamXodus)  the app is really old and outdated... so I dunno if it's any use any more.
