Hey again, sorry for the long wait, I was caught up in some stuff that I had to get out of the way. But anyway, I have some good news and bad news. Good news first: the XBMC handles the contrast code well. Bad news: The LCD is displaying jumbled words and characters. I can see it write SPI2PAR and the song im playing every once in a while, but then it switches to a bunch of jumbled things. I think the reason might be that the 5V im getting isn't stable. I hooked up the backlight to the power supply and it flashes. Should I splice the 12V connector and just use a 5V power regulator instead? Or is that not the problem?

Ok, I tried hooking it up to the controller port's 5V and a regulated 5V from a voltage regulator, and neither one worked. Maybe my LCD isn't working... and if thats the reason then maybe I'll try that new Xenium LCD thing when it comes out...

the XBMC DEVS released the build that fixes the contrast control issue. it works great. i just need to get the LCD to work with XSO 2.2.1

Green any ideas other then the resistor?
is it me or i'm the olny one with the contrast issue in XOS, it will not display the BIOS Version or anything for that matter. But is works great with XBMC

Not really. With the CF Lcd's there shoukdnt be any contrast issues in XOS.

Is the contrast wire from the SPI2par going directly to the contrast pin on the lcd ?

Try connecting the Contrast from the LCD directly to GND, this should force the contrast to full. As well try with a resistor if possible.

What number do you have the contrast set to in XBMC for it to show properly ?

Okay, so let me get this right. from the SPI2PAR the contrast goes to the pad on the LCD and then from the Pad on the LCD to ground.

I thing i have it set to 5

No, The SPI2Par provides the ground/negative (-) for the backlight. You need to provide the positivie (+) to the backlight via the 5v. Thats what the short red wire is for, to 'jumper' from VCC to the backlight 5V+

Set the contrast in XBMC to 0 or close to that. It should set it higher.

The contrast is reversed if you will, 0 means dark, 100 means light.
