Try updating to the lastest CVS of XBMC guys... I did, and that fixed a lot of my Spi2Par/XBMC troubles... RE 2.0.1... works fine fore me; only displays "Xe" at boot... but then displays the BIOS you launch, etc...

Guru,
So you’re able to see the Bios version you running?

I'm able to see it from extreme angles did you do anything to the SPI2PAR to get the right contrast?

Theres not very much that can be done right now except forcing the contrast to a set level, using a resistor.

I did not expect XBMC devs to actually take long to include the Contrast control into XBMC. I have had the code there for a few days now, and yet to get a reply or anything.

Contact me via email for a build of xbmc xbe with the updated code.

I tried the updated xbe, but all that happened was that I could not do anything in the program. The logo in the upper right corner did its little flashy thing, but the time was not changing. Did I get a bad file? Also, this might not be related, but right after copying the updated xbe to my box, Avalaunch freezes after about 20 seconds.

Yes that can happen, its because since its based of the latest code in the CVS, all the other files (like skins, settings, etc) must also match. The easiest, is to simply use the latest release xbmc's files.

What xbmc where you using ?

The update should not affect ava in any way, unless ava is run after xbmc, and in which case it could possibly.

wink.gif. Also, the LCD didn't turn on when i hooked it up from the external led thing (that extra port). I used an external source for 5V, maybe it needs to come from the box? Just wondering...

Yes, the LCD is NOT powered from the xenium's connections.

Thats what the long Red wire, and red splicer are for. They are to provide the LCD with power.

Ill play around with it a lil more and see whats wrong with the .xbe
Most of the tests are with the debug version, but thats 16mb+ so its not easy to send that out.

I don't think I worded that right. When I said external source for 5V I meant I hooked up a few batteries to a 5V voltage regulator and plugged the LCD into the external SPI connector I had. And where does the LCD get ground? Is that in the SPI connector?

Well good news, the LCD COntrast code is now in the XBMC CVS, so any future ver will have full control properly.

As for the 5v, you should simply use the 5v from the xbox (why waste batteries)
The ground is thru the SPI connector.

biggrin.gif. And I was using batteries to test it. For some reason, the backlight turned on when I used the 5V and GND from the batteries, but not when I used 5V from the batteries and GND from the SPI connector.

Thats because the GND must be common for both, so you cant use V+ from batteries and not have anything going back to the batteries.

So use the splicer to get 5v from the xbox itself, and use the GND on the spi2par.

You COULD try the batteries, just connect the - of the battery to GND of the xbox.
Carefuly not to put POWER back INTO the xbox via the +
