1.  yes

2.  yes

3.  in general, all you would consider will fit

4.  no

5.  no

6.  no, not a worry, though a debatable topic as to which is better.

7.  just to follow directions to the "T"

8.  yes, that drive will work.  use gumbas link.  i use the same type of drive, but its the 200 gig version  (L01P200)  works fine.

the process didnt take long at all.  from stock drive to new drive less than 5 minutes (not including assemply)

just remember, never touch anything once the process begins.  you will know when its done.

I have heard using the upgrade wizzard take a VERY LONG TIME.

Only if you have already upgeaded your HDD and it is full, and you choose to copy F: wink.gif

Anyways, the using the HDD upgrade wizard  is your best bet MM007, but before you do so, be sure to update to the latest XOS 2.0.1. Also, after the drive update is complete, besure to delete the files in E:\CACHE or live-enabled games will lockup.

Do I need to delete all the files on E:\cache after I upgrade my harddrive? Or are you just talking about one specific file? Cuz i do want to play xbox live.

Also, i ran into a good priced 160 GB drive (WD1600JBRTL) . I heard something about 137GB or bigger you have to do something. Like i heard that you have to have a hacked bios with LBA48. I have that bios.

Anyways, now that i'm thinking of getting a HDD larger than 137GB, can I still use the Xenium OS harddrive upgrade method? Also do i need anything other than LBA48 bios to upgrade and use this drive?

thanks

yep, less than 5 minutes to go from stock drive to large drive.

yep, delete all files in E:/cache.  deleting cache files doesnt affect live anyway.  just make sure your INSIDE the cache folder.

use the newest bios'.  and use .06 bios (4981.06, 4983.06, ect)

yes, can still use xenium os.  like guru said, make sure your running newest version of xenium os 2.0.1

when doing the upgrade, when it asks you about g, dont worry about it.  put all extra space on f.

Now that makes better sense.  I was reading how it took some people hours, even days using the wizzard.  Must of misread it or something.  Or didn't include the F partition.  Discouraged me from using it.  Thanks for clarification appleguru.

So from a stock hard drive to a larger should be OK to use the upgrade wizzard.  Any ideas how long it takes to upgrade from a regular 8 - 10 Gig stock Hard Drive over?

5 minutes?

Possibly, no one has worked that out yet... if you want you can try and work out exactly which files in there need to be deleted.

Could be a fun puzzle. I think you can just move them out instead of deleting, then move them back in, until you work out which files cause the lockups.

The files will be recreated after they have been deleted.
