I think it's a good idea to have the recovery on your HDD |
Actually, no.
This just happened to me and I think the reason why it happened is precisely because I forgot to delete the e:\recovery.bin after doing the 2.0.1 upgrade.
You see, what happened is I unplugged my xbox and moved it into another room, plugged it back in, and I think it started to doing a recovery and I turned it off.
The problem was, because there *was* a recovery.bin on the HD it did a partial recovery and ended up corrupting the OS.
I had to use the recovery switch to get it to re-load the e:\recovery.bin and then everything was fine (including my prefs!)
Of course, I bet this wouldn't have happened if I had remembered to delete the recovery.bin from the e drive.
The point is, delete the e:\recovery.bin after doing an XOS upgrade.
PS: the corrupted os resulted in a red light on the xenium, flashing green eject light, a couple of reboots, then fragging.
