Noob Needs Xeniumos Install Walkthrough

1. Isn't the Xenium OS 2 beta already installed on the chip?
2. You need to run the M8_16 bios on your 1.6 xbox, for the 137GB thing, I have seen you use evtool and modify the bios to add support for it, check in the forums for more info on this.

Very simple, I just did it a second ago myself.

Get the OS2  Beta 2 image from the usual places.  It will come as an ISO.  Burn that to a disc that your xbox will read, for me, it was a pocket cd-rw.  Then, boot your system into safe mode.  Once in safe mode, it (the current  Xenium OS), will read the "recover" file from the disc that you just burned, and flash your mod chip.  During this time, the  "eject light" will blink.  When the flash is complete, it will turn off your Xbox.

I hope this helps!  If not ALL the info, at least a step in the right direction.

Thank you!

But when you say "safe mode" do you mean "recovery"? I don't see a safe mode option anywhere.

Peace,
Chris

Yes, he means recovery. And XOS2 is also avalible on teamxodus' site. (www.teamxodus.com).

As for LBA48 support (>137GB), as turkish mentiond, you need to run your m8_1.6 BIOS through evtool ( http://home.alltel.n...shd/evtool.html ) To enable it and get all of your 200GB. If after flashing the 'new' BIOS you still don't see all your space, reformat F:.

Okay, this should be the last question.
I installed XeniumsOS2 Beta2.
I downloaded the Evox M8 bios and ran evtool on it setting partition 6 to take up the rest of the drive.
I saved the bios, ftped it to c:\, and added it to the launch menu. Then I ran it. Next I rebooted and through Xenium OS I went to disktools-->format partition-->format F. I went ahead with the format, did it succesfully, rebooted the system and loaded avalaunch. The file manager still shows me with just over 100 gigs (hard drive is 200).

What am I doing wrong? Is there another, better, way to format the F drive which will ensure that all 200 GB show up in Avalaunch.

Once again, thank you!

Best,
Chris

Hmmm

It sounds like your BIOS wasn't properly modified to support LBA48

PS: while you are modifying it, you can enable IGR smile.gif
