Are you using OS 2.0 beta2?

I just had a similar experience on a 1.6. What I did was, removed the chip and booted the original bios, then set the system clock and put the chip back in. This fixed my problem.

You said that when you pulled your chip out it "tries" to load the original bios but messes up. What do you mean? Is your hard drive unlocked?

If you can't set your system clock, try and do a Restore on the chip by flipping the little restore switch.
